New York (CNN) Clorox, the world's biggest maker of disinfectant cleaning materials, said consumers will continue to see a shortage of its wipes and other products into 2021 because of overwhelming demand during the pandemic.
While all kinds of disinfectant products have been flying off store shelves since March, wipes have been in especially high demand with consumers.
Clorox (CLX), which dominates the $1 billion disinfectant wipes market with a 45% market share, said it has aggressively ramped up production for its cleaning products, but it still won't be enough.

Israel may offer to supply Lebanon with humanitarian aid following the massive explosion in Beirut on Tuesday evening, according to Middle East expert Shimrit Meir. Meir does not believe that Lebanon would accept any assistance from Israel. Hezbollah, which effectively controls their government, would certainly not allow it in any case.
Shortly after making her tweet, Defense Minister Gantz and Foreign Minister Ashkenazi announced that they offered Israel’s assistance to the government of Lebanon. The offer was made through a third country.
It remains to be seen what kind of assistance Israel offers, if Lebanon were to accept. Read more at JP

Governor of Beirut bursts into tears talking about explosion at fireworks factory, compares scale to Hiroshima bombing.

Tropical Storm Isaias whipped through the Chesapeake Bay and will head up the East Coast Tuesday night. Two dead in Maryland and NC.
MARYLAND — Tropical Storm Isaias lashed the mid-Atlantic with tropical storm-force winds and several inches of rain Tuesday before its expected move up the East Coast by the evening.
As it churned by Maryland, officials said the storm produced tornadoes and flash flooding. A Maryland driver died in a storm-related crash and a tornado spawned by the storm is believed to have killed one person in North Carolina.

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu is currently seeking to transfer NIS 400 million to haredi yeshivas in order to convince the haredi political parties to support new elections, Channel 12 News reported.
The purpose of the transfer is to reduce the budgetary distress created following the failure to approve the 2020 budget, which has led to cuts in many budget items, including the budget to support the yeshivas.
According to the report, Netanyahu is trying to transfer the NIS 400 million to the yeshivas separately from the budget package that is currently being transferred to the education system. Read more at Arutz-7

President Donald Trump in an email to supporters Monday encouraged the use of face masks.
“We are all in this together, and while I know there has been some confusion surrounding the usage of face masks, I think it’s something we should all try to do when we are not able to be socially distanced from others,” he said.
“I don’t love wearing them either. Masks may be good, they may be just O.K., or they may be great. They can possibly help us get back to our American way of life that so many of us rightfully cherished before we were so terribly impacted by the China virus.”

Global coal-fired capacity decreased by more than 2.9 gigawatts from January to July this year, the first time in recorded history that worldwide capacity to produce energy from coal has gone down, according to data released by Global Energy Monitor on Monday.
In the United States and several other countries, coal plant capacity declined, although it did go up in other nations, such as China, according to The Hill.
Currently operating coal plants worldwide now have a capacity of 2047 gigawatts following the decline in the first half of the year.

Former President Barack Obama has issued endorsements for over 100 Democratic candidates running for federal, statewide and state legislative offices in the upcoming 2020 elections, NBC News reports.
“Our country’s future hangs on this election, and it won’t be easy. But pandemics have a way of cutting through a lot of noise and spin to remind us of what is real, and what is important,” Obama said in a statement on Medium. “Elections matter. And we need Americans of all political stripes to get involved in our politics and our public life like never before.”
Out of the 118 candidates he endorsed, 51 are running for the House of Representatives, five for Senate, and over 50 for state legislative offices.

Statistics show 27% of COVID-19 patients recovering from the disease suffered prolonged hair loss as a result. More than half of likely voters think President Donald Trump is doing a good job, according to a new poll.
A Rasmussen poll released Monday shows that Trump’s approval rating is 7 points higher than former President Barack Obama’s approval rating on the same day in 2012.
Poll results show:
51% of likely voters say Trump is doing a good job.
47% of likely voters say they disapprove of the president’s job performance.
40% of likely voters say they strongly approve of the job Trump is doing.
41% of likely voters say they strongly disapprove of Trump’s performance.

Blast was reportedly accident at fireworks warehouse, not related to terrorism
A large explosion was reported in Beirut, the capital of Lebanon Tuesday afternoon. The blast shook buildings and left a tall plume of smoke which could be seen from far away.
Lebanese media reported that the explosion occurred at a fireworks warehouse and is not related to terrorism.

Homicides are up 24% in 36 of the 50 biggest cities in the U.S. amid the coronavirus pandemic, though other types of violent crime fell, according to an analysis by The Wall Street Journal.
Chicago has the most homicides at 433, followed by Philadelphia (243), New York (212), Houston (178), and Los Angeles (157), according to data through at least early July. In total, the 50 cities recorded 3,612 homicides this year.
Robberies were down 11% among the 41 largest cities that made the data available, but up overall in San Antonio by 22%, San Diego (21%), Austin (16%), Fort Worth (15%), and Phoenix (5%).

Lord & Taylor is closing 19 of its store locations after its parent company, Le Tote Inc., filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on Monday.
The closures come as the coronavirus pandemic forced stores to close and boosted online shopping over physical shopping.
"Today, we announced our search for a new owner who believes in our legacy and values," Lord & Taylor wrote in a message to customers. "Part of our announcement also includes filing for Chapter 11 protection to overcome the unprecedented strain the COVID-19 pandemic has placed on our business."

New York City’s health commissioner, Dr. Oxiris Barbot, resigned on Tuesday in protest over her “deep disappointment” with Mayor Bill de Blasio’s handling of the coronavirus outbreak and subsequent efforts to keep it in check.

New study shows Israelis with cardiac events arrived late at hospital during first virus wave
“A partial lockdown or absolute lockdown are still possibilities,” Israel’s Health Ministry Director-General Prof. Hezi Levi said Tuesday morning in an interview with Israel’s Army Radio.

One-time payment of NIS 750 deposited directly into Israelis' bank accounts
The second stimulus package of the so-called “Grant for Every Citizen” law was deposited at Israelis’ bank accounts Tuesday morning, Hebrew media reported.
The financial relief plan is expected to be completed Wednesday, in which each citizen will receive a one-time payment of NIS 750 ($220). According to outlet Maariv, some 800,000 Israelis are eligible to receive NIS 1,500 ($440).
Any citizen above the age of 18 was eligible to receive the NIS 750 grant, while those who are entitled to a nursing benefit, income guarantee, etc., were entitled to the larger sum. Read more at i24

The Manhattan district attorney’s office on Monday hinted that its subpoena for President Trump‘s tax returns is part of an investigation into “possibly extensive and protracted criminal conduct at the Trump Organization,” including potential fraud allegations detailed in media reports in recent years.
