Israel’s Defense Minister Naftali Bennett said during a press conference on the coronavirus outbreak Wednesday that the country should expect to see “a wave of severe morbidity coming,” within 10 days time.
“It [COVID-19] is at the shore of Israel, so to speak, and we expect that within 10 days time we will see a massive increase of severe patients, we can work to change the situation,” Bennett said.
The minister stressed the importance of protecting the elderly from the pandemic and said Israel is doing the best job out of any other country to protect the older population.

Baltimore, MD - Mar. 25, 2020 - 12:30 PM - Rabbi Yaakov Hopfer, President of the Vaad HaRabbonim of Baltimore, explains that any one who made a kabalah yesterday to fast today, whether a half day or whole, should not fast due to the Coronavirus situation and the obligation upon everyone to maintain their strength and health. The kabala is considered a kabala bi'taus, a mistaken acceptance, as it was based on those who did not accurately translate or understand the letter from Rav Chaim, Shlita. The main mission now is Teshuva and Tefila, and not through fasting.May Hashem hear our Tefilos and bring Yeshuos to all of us.Rabbi Yaakov Hopfer,Vaad HaRabbanim

A New Jersey man who allegedly coughed on a Wegmans employee and said he had coronavirus was charged Tuesday with a terroristic threat, among other charges, officials said.
George Falcone, 50, from Freehold, N.J., was charged with terroristic threats, obstructing administration of law or other governmental function and harassment after the incident occurred Sunday, New Jersey Attorney General Gurbir Grewal (D) said in a statement.
On Sunday, a Wegmans employee reportedly asked Falcone to step back after he was “standing too close to her” and an open display of prepared food. She covered her food while asking him, according to the attorney general’s office.
Falcone allegedly leaned forward within three feet of her and purposefully coughed, while laughing and saying he w...

Toilet paper shortages, profiteering from hand sanitizer and empty shelves in grocery stores.
Thanks to COVID-19, governments in most industrialized nations are preparing for shortages of life's necessities. If they fail, riots over food may be inevitable. Some wonder if we are responding appropriately to COVID-19, and it's clear that recent events expose a fundamental flaw in the global systems that bring us our daily bread.
We live in a wondrous age when global supply chains seamlessly link farmers and consumers using the principles of "just enough, just in time." For years, companies have worked hard to keep inventories low, timing shipments to balance supply and demand using knife-edge accuracy.
In many ways, this system is a miracle. Low-cost food is ...

President Reuven (Ruvi) Rivlin delivered a statement to the nation this evening, Wednesday 25 March / 29 Adar in light of the coronavirus. President Rivlin’s remarks in full:"My fellow Israeli citizens, We are in complex and difficult times for Israel’s leaders, Israeli society and as part of the family of nations. This evening, further emergency regulations came into force that limit our freedom of movement, our liberty, in a way that has never happened before, all for our well-being, all for the welfare of those dearest to us. At a time when here, in the State of Israel, we are burying our dead simply, holding weddings without guests, closing yeshivot and synagogues, schools and universities; in these moments of crisis, we must also learn the art of obedience. I planned this article for the week of Rosh Chodesh Nisan way before I realized that most of us will probably not be able to be guests at other people’s homes for Pesach. The article still has a lot of value.
Since many of us will be guests at other people’s houses for the Seder or for some other time during Pesach, it seems like an opportune time to discuss the laws pertaining to being a guest in someone else’s house.
Some of these rules are fairly self-explanatory. For example, a guest should not bring another guest with him (Bava Basra 98b).
A guest should feel that whatever the host serves and prepares is in his honor. The Gemara explains, “What does a good guest say? How hard the host worked for me! How much meat he brought! How much wine he served! How many...
