The UK’s Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) has decided to charge only one person from a group of Labour party activists accused of engaging in antisemitic hate speech, abuse and violence, it was reported on Wednesday.
The actions of the Labour members in question were brought to the attention of authorities by the Campaign Against Antisemitism (CAA), which more than a year ago revealed a secret 86-page Labour document detailing 45 serious cases of antisemitism — including 17 described as “race-hate incidents,” which require informing the police.
The dossier was passed by CAA to former Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) commander Mak Chishty, who found at least four cases he felt should be investigated as possibly criminal.

Dozens of interviews with Democratic establishment leaders this week show that the Democratic Party are not just worried about a Bernie Sanders’s candidacy, but are also willing to risk intraparty damage to stop his nomination at the national convention in July if they get the chance.
Since Sanders’s victory in Nevada’s caucuses on Saturday, The Times has interviewed 93 party officials — all of them superdelegates, who could have a say on the nominee at the convention — and found overwhelming opposition to handing the Vermont senator the nomination if he arrived with the most delegates but fell short of a majority.

Mike Bloomberg’s campaign reached out to Democrat Andrew Yang seeking his endorsement and supposedly dangled an offer to run as his vice president as the bait, a new report said Thursday.
The ex-mayor’s aides contacted Yang in the hopes that the two could work together as Bloomberg seeks the Democratic nomination, The Wall Street Journal reported, citing sources.
Yang, an entrepreneur like the billionaire Bloomberg, dropped out of the race earlier this month, turned down the offer because he was mulling his own political future, the paper reported.

Israeli scientists are on the cusp of developing the first vaccine against the novel coronavirus, according to Science and Technology Minister Ofir Akunis. If all goes as planned, the vaccine could be ready within a few weeks and available in 90 days, according to a release.

AUSTRIA (JNS) — The Austrian parliament unanimously passed a resolution on Thursday rejecting the BDS movement and all forms of anti-Semitism, including Israel-related anti-Semitism.
The resolution, which was initiated by Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz’s center-right People’s Party, was first introduced last December. The resolution condemns the BDS movement as anti-Semitic and calls on the Austrian federal government to withhold federal funds from and avoid cooperation with organizations tied to the BDS movement.

New Yorkers should prepare for a paper bag shortage when the new state law banning single-use plastic bags goes into effect across New York on Sunday. Instead, some retailers will begin offering paper bags as a replacement.
The legislation aims to reduce litter and help protect wildlife in the Empire State, where more than 23 billion plastic bags are used a year, according to the state Department of Environmental Conservation.
All shops that collect sales tax, including grocery stores, bodegas and retailers in the Empire State will now be allowed to charge a five cent fee for every paper bag used though many stores may stop carrying bags at all. Parshas Terumah begins with Hashem commanding Moshe Rabbeinu to collect “Terumah” from Bnei Yisroel in order to build the Mishkan and all of its adornments. The Terumah to be collected was in the form of gold, silver, copper, special woods and oil – all of which were to be used in the daily operation of the Mishkan. Yet in giving this commandment, the Torah appears to use grammatically incorrect language in its delivery.

Fighter jets downed a drone that took off from the Gaza Strip on Thursday afternoon and flew, abnormally, westward over the Mediterranean.
The incident takes place just days after the end of a round of fighting in the south, which began with massive rocket fire at southern communities on Sunday evening.
After the end of the escalation round, Defense Minister Naftali Bennett said, “I am committed to bringing peace and security to the residents of the south. U.S. equity markets plunged into correction territory Thursday in what was another volatile session which followed President Trump’s announcement on Wednesday of a coronavirus task force.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell over 1,193 points, its worst single point drop ever, as selling accelerated into the close of trading. The S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite lost well over 4 percent apiece.
The early selling had all three major averages down at least 10 percent from their February peaks. Both the S&P 500 and the Dow Jones Industrial Average were on track for their sixth straight day of losses.

Catherine Pugh, the former mayor of Baltimore, was sentenced after pleading guilty to conspiracy to commit fraud and tax evasion.
BALTIMORE, MD — Former Baltimore Mayor Catherine Pugh was sentenced Thursday in federal court in Baltimore. She will serve three years in prison followed by three years of probation, according to WBFF.
