JERSEY CITY, NJ (VINnews) — The shooting attack which occurred in Jersey City Tuesday has resulted in 6 deaths, including the death of one police officer and both gunmen involved in the attack.
The police officer has been identified as Detective Joseph Seals a married father of five who was known for getting guns off of the street, according to a press statement by Jersey Police Chief Michael Kelly.
Officers were called to the scene of an active shooter situation on Tuesday afternoon at 1:45 p.m.
A Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Tweet reporting an active shooter alerted the media to the existence of the shooter.

UPDATED: Several people, including at least one officer, were killed in Jersey City, N.J., this afternoon after two people opened fire around a frum convenience store, officials said, touching off a firefight involving dozens of law enforcement officers that made the residential area take on the feel of a war zone.
The gunfire broke out around 12:30 p.m.
The incident – reportedly a drug bust gone bad – began at the Bay View Cemetery before the shooters ran to Jersey City (JC) Kosher Supermarket at 223 Martin Luther King Drive.
One police officer was shot and died in the hospital. Another five people – including two shooters – and three civilians – were killed inside the store. A third shooter is said to be in custody.

JERSEY CITY (VINnews) — Although the shooting attack taking place in Jersey City has apparently been centered at a local Kosher supermarket and there are Jewish casualties among the dead and wounded, the attack is apparently not intended to specifically target the Jewish community.
“At this time, reports indicate this is a criminal incident and does not appear to be a targeted attack against the Jewish community. We will continue to monitor and update,” The Secure Community Network, a Jewish security organization in North America, tweeted.

JERSEY CITY, NJ (VINnews) — An active shooter situation took place in Jersey City on Tuesday afternoon.
The story began with a shooting in Bayview Cemetery, with a police officer being shot in the shoulder. The wounded officer was transferred to Jersey City Medical Center where he passed away. At least one of the shooters then fled to a nearby store, from which the shooting continued.
According to CBS, the suspects were known to police, and were wanted in other homicides.

Israeli politics remained stuck in a logjam on Monday, with Yisrael Beiteinu head Avigdor Lieberman appearing to rebuff a call to join a right-wing coalition headed by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and Blue and White party number two Yair Lapid saying he would forgo a rotating arrangement with party chairman Benny Gantz.
Following a second round of elections in September after a vote in April failed to produce a clear winner, both Netanyahu and Gantz have failed to form a workable governing coalition. If one was not established by Wednesday, a third round of elections would be triggered automatically.

Two gunmen are firing upon police and people from a building on Martin Luther King Drive near Bidwell Avenue, injuring at least one police officer Tuesday afternoon.
Martin Luther King Drive has been cleared of people, police said.
The two gunmen arrived in the area in a U-Haul van, each carrying long guns into the bodega, police said in radio transmissions.
The grocery is the Jersey City Kosher Supermarket. A Talmud Torah located on the second floor is currently on lockdown.
At 12:51 p.m., police reported that a person appeared to be shot inside the store, near the front entrance.

GREENVILLE, N.C. (AP) — Employees at a Bed, Bath & Beyond in North Carolina discovered an uninvited sleepover guest hiding in the store when they opened up Monday morning.
The Greenville employees called local police around 8:30 a.m. and officers responded to a “breaking and entering in progress,” according to The News & Observer.
The intruder turned out to be a 14-year-old runaway who had “camped out” at the store overnight after leaving home, Greenville police spokeswoman Kristen Hunter said.
The teen wasn’t harmed and was taken back to his house. His name wasn’t immediately released.
