PARIS — Dozens of graves in the Jewish cemetery in the small Alsatian village of Westhoffen have been found daubed with swastikas and anti-Semitic graffiti, the latest in a series of cemetery and synagogue profanations in the region.
The historic cemetery, which dates to the 16th century and houses the graves of the families of Karl Marx and former French prime ministers Leon Blum and Michel Debré, is the third Jewish cemetery in Alsace to be desecrated in the last year, according to the authorities.

Update: Shooter committed suicide after gunning down 3 people. 2 in critical condition and 1 stable.###Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard in Hawaii is on lockdown Wednesday after a reported shooting with multiple victims, sources in the area told Fox News.
First responders and security forces arrived at the scene and had it "under control as of now," a source told Fox News. The incident occurred at approximately 2:30 p.m. local time at Drydock 2.

Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) over the weekend compared the situation at the U.S.-Mexico border to that of Gaza and Israel.
“Do you know what I saw at the border? I saw Gaza,” said Tlaib, the first Palestinian American woman in Congress, during her keynote address on Saturday at the American Muslims for Palestine conference in Chicago. “When you think about the border, you have to got to understand how interconnected the oppression in Palestine is with the oppression taking place at the border.”
She also said that she’s advocating for clean water in her Michigan district and “fighting for clean water in Gaza.”

Leviathan, Israel’s largest offshore natural-gas field, will start supplying the local market by the end of December, followed by exports to Egypt and Jordan soon after, Reuters reported on Monday.
“Within two to three weeks, we will open the wells and start to supply the gas,” said Binyamin Zomer, vice president for regional affairs at Texas-based Noble Energy.
“Before the end of the year, we will start supplying the domestic market, and in the weeks right after that, we will export to Egypt and Jordan,” Zomer told the annual Israel Energy and Business Convention, according to the report.
Noble Energy discovered the Leviathan field, located in the Mediterranean Sea off the coast of Haifa, in 2010.

HOUSTON (AP) — A local judge in South Texas has ordered supporters of President Donald Trump not to build their planned private border wall on a section of land near the Rio Grande.
State District Judge Keno Vasquez on Tuesday issued a temporary restraining order against We Build the Wall, which raised $25 million after promising to build its own private barrier. JERUSALEM (VINnews) — Veteran Israeli journalist Carmela Menashe supposedly dropped a bombshell Tuesday morning when she reported that the IDF had inflated the numbers of Chareidi recruits enlisting each year in order to meet prearranged government quotas. Menashe claimed that the IDF’s Haredi recruitment division allegedly “forged” the numbers by counting the religious (who are not ultra-Orthodox), and sometimes even secular, recruits in order to meet the needed criteria.
For example, in 2017 the official number of Haredi recruits (as reported by the IDF) stood at 3,070, only 130 fewer than the recruitment target of 3,200 set by the government in 2016. In reality, however, only 1,300 soldiers were in fact ultra-Orthodox, less than double the reported figure....

Political officials seek to have president pardon incumbent prime minister in exchange for his stepping down from political life.
A group of political leaders who are not acting in coordination with Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu have proposed an outline under which the prime minister would retire from politics in exchange for a presidential pardon, Channel 12 News reported Wednesday evening.
Under the outline, President Reuven Rivlin would grant a broad pardon to Netanyahu if he admits to the indictments filed against him and declares he is retiring from political life.

KIRYAS JOEL (VINnews) — Firefighters are battling a large fire which broke out in Kiryas Joel on Wednesday afternoon.
The fire is reported at 411 County Route 105, between Bnai Yoel Drive and Bakertown Road. It reportedly started inside a bus mechanic shop for the Bnai Yoel School.
Firefighters encountered heavy flames when they arrived at the scene.

HEVRON (VINnews) — The Israeli Defense Ministry and the Civil Administration in Judea and Samaria are moving forward with plans to renovate part of the Machpela Cave in Hevron, including making the site wheelchairs-accessible. The plans are being promoted despite objections by the Waqf, or Islamic trust, which co-manages the site along with the Israeli chief rabbinate.
The Hevron municipality, which is controlled by the PA, is officially responsible for the site but has consistently blocked attempts to renovate it over the years, despite repeated requests by the local Jewish community. At present the Defense Ministry is expected to expropriate the land around the complex from the Arab municipality of Hevron and the Waqf.

The largest hospital in Israel will be built in Beersheva if a proposal to expand an area that the city can develop will be approved by the National Council for Planning and Construction, according to Calcalist.
If approved, the city will be able to develop a new hospital and industrial zone for pharmaceutical and biotech companies. Sixty days will be given for opposition to be presented to the development plan; afterwards, the proposal will receive final approval and lead the way for building permits to be submitted.
The new potential hospital will have about 1,900 beds—1,000 of which will be for general medicine, while the remaining beds will be for geriatric care and a mental-health center.

Baltimore, MD - Dec. 4, 2019 - Baltimore City Public Schools could come up short as it looks ahead to planning next year's budget, CEO Sonja Santelises said.
"There's a projected budget gap of about $60 million," Santelises said.
Speaking at a City Council committee hearing Tuesday night, Santelises gave council members a closer look at the district's financial books and predicting what may lie ahead.
