The Baltimore State's Attorney's Office continues to investigate the death of Baltimore Police detective Sean Suiter as a memo shares new information on why they are still investigating despite police stating they found no evidence to believe his death was "anything other than a suicide" and the case was closed, according to the Baltimore Sun.
Last week, Baltimore Police Commissioner Michael Harrison released a statement declaring Suiter's death a suicide. Harrison's statement prompted responses from Suiter's family and prosecutors still investigating.

After the homicide rate in Baltimore City reached 300 Thursday, Baltimore Police Commissioner Michael Harrison said in an interview Thursday it could take seven to eight years for the homicide rate to decrease.
For five straight years, Baltimore City has had at least 300 homicides. The city hit the grim milestone Thursday after two shooting victims were found at the corner of McHenry and Monroe streets around 3 a.m.
Harrison was interviewed on "Midday with Tom Hall" on WYPR-FM when he addressed the spike in crime.
Hall asked Harrison how long it would take to decrease violent crime in the city. Harrison compared the city to New Orleans.

Elazar Cohen, Israel’s new commissioner to Expo 2020, which will be held in Dubai, said this week that the world fair would give Israel an opportunity to build closer ties with the United Arab Emirates and other Gulf states, the AP reported.
Cohen said in a briefing at Israel’s Foreign Ministry that the Israeli pavilion at the world’s largest exhibition would present technological products, but also showcase the country itself.

NEW YORK (AP) – New York billionaire Michael Bloomberg, who is deciding whether to launch a Democratic presidential bid, is pouring $100 million into an online advertising campaign attacking President Donald Trump.
The campaign, which targets voters in four general election battleground states — Arizona, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin — begins running on Friday, according to Bloomberg spokesman Jason Schechter.
News of the massive investment was first reported by The New York Times. The former New York City mayor has already filed paperwork in at least two states to appear on presidential primary ballots.
Bloomberg himself is not featured in the ad campaign.

PERTH, AUSTRALIA (AP) – Australia’s national carrier Qantas has completed a 19-and-a-half hour non-stop flight from London to Sydney, part of a series of tests to assess the effects of very long-haul flights.
The Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner took off from London’s Heathrow Airport on Thursday morning and touched down at Sydney Airport 45 minutes behind schedule at 12:30 p.m. local time on Friday.
The 17,800 kilometer (11,060 mile) journey is part of Project Sunrise — Qantas’ goal to operate regular, non-stop commercial flights from Australia’s east coast cities of Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne to London and New York.
Last month, Qantas completed the first non-stop flight from New York to Sydney, which took 19 hours and 16 minutes.

JERUSALEM (AP) – Israel said early Friday it has completed a series of airstrikes on targets linked to the Islamic Jihad militant group in Gaza after overnight rocket fire that rattled a day-old truce.
The Palestinian territory’s Hamas rulers, who kept to the sidelines of this week’s fighting, cancelled the weekly protests they organize along the perimeter fence without explanation — apparently in an effort to preserve the calm.

TEHRAN (VINnews) – Iran’s Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said Friday that Tehran is not calling for the “disappearance of Jewish people,” and that people of all religions should decide Israel’s future, Reuters reports.
The Iranian Supreme Leader routinely calls for Israel’s destruction.
“Calling for the elimination of the state of Israel does not mean the elimination of the Jewish people,” Khamenei told officials and participants at an Islamic conference in Tehran, according to his official website.

LYON (VINnews) — Jewish officials in Lyon, France are preparing to file a lawsuit against the city’s airport over anti-Semitic bias. The allegations involve the airport purposely delaying arrivals from Tel Aviv from receiving their lugagge in a timely manner.
The situation came to a head last Sunday, when pssengers who arrived on a Transavia flight from Tel Aviv experinced a 2 hour delay to receive their lugagge, which ultimately resulted in a fight between the passengers and the airport staff.
Passengers say that while they were experincing a 2 hour delay, they saw passengers who had just come off a flight from Algeria, and were receiving their luggage right away.

Venice has experienced some of the worst flooding in its history this week, with flood levels of over 6 feet submerging the city’s most revered and trafficked historical sites.
High tides have washed over 85% of the one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world, causing hundreds of millions of euros’ worth of damage, with shops, buildings and hundreds of pieces of infrastructure being flooded. North Korea has launched another volley of insults at former vice president Joe Biden, calling him a “rabid dog” who is greedy for power and deserves to be beaten to death.
The attack came two weeks after Biden issued a statement attacking President Donald Trump’s North Korea policy and referring to that country’s leader, Kim Jong Un, as a “murderous dictator.”

Minister Benjamin Netanyahu arrived Thursday night at the Shin Bet’s special operations room in central Israel to praise the work of its employees.
