Washington, D.C. – March 31, 2025 – Former President Donald Trump has expressed frustration with Russian President Vladimir Putin over the ongoing Ukraine war. Trump threatened to impose stiff tariffs on Russian oil imports unless Putin agrees to negotiate a peaceful resolution. According to the report, Trump criticized Putin’s actions as “reckless and damaging to global stability.” Trump emphasized that his administration would have handled the situation differently and accused President Joe Biden of allowing Russia to operate without sufficient deterrence. The proposed tariffs, Trump stated, would be aimed at pressuring Russia economically to force a diplomatic settlement.
US President Donald Trump threatened to bomb Iran if it does not agree to a deal on Sunday, speaking to NBC. "If they don’t make a deal, there will be a bombing," he said. "It will be bombing the likes of which they have never seen before." Trump also threatened further sanctions, but noted that his administration and Tehran were talking. This comes after Trump vowed to restore "maximum pressure" on the Islamic Republic, all the while indicating his preference for a deal on the Iranian nuclear program. Meanwhile, Iranian President Masoud Pazeshkian issued a statement that rejected direct negotiations with the US on the nuclear program. Trump also spoke about the negotiations between Russia and Ukraine to reach a ceasefire, expressing anger at Russian President Vladimir Putin...
Annapolis, MD - March 30, 2025 - Gov. Wes Moore isn’t ruling out a presidential run in 2028 but said he’s concentrating on Maryland. “I am not focused on anything except for making sure that this is Maryland’s decade,” he said Sunday morning on CNN’s “State of the Union.” CNN’s Dana Bash had asked him if he was ruling out a 2028 run for president. The governor didn’t say “yes” or “no.” Instead, he talked about how the state is giving middle-class families a tax cut — something Maryland Republicans dispute. Moore also said Maryland’s economy is growing for the first time in a decade. “That certainly sounds like something that would fit on a national platform campaign bumper sticker,&rdqu...
Baltimore, MD - March 30, 2025 - Johns Hopkins University and Health System attorneys are warning faculty and students to "not intervene" in the event federal immigration enforcement agents come on campus. In a memo issued last month, the Office of General Counsel stressed "many areas within Johns Hopkins campuses and facilities are open to the public. Federal law enforcement officers are generally authorized by law to enter public spaces without any additional or special permission from Johns Hopkins." For private or limited access areas like residents halls, classrooms, administrative offices, and some clinical spaces, Hopkins told its members the feds generally would need a warrant or court order to enter. However, if federal agents do happen to move in without showing proper legal d...

Baltimore, MD - March 30, 2025  - (BJL) Two years ago, Baltimore lost a giant, Rabbi Moshe Juravel, zt”l. I had the zechus to write an article about him, which was warmly received. He inspired so many in various ways. In the article, I shared that before Pesach, Rabbi Juravel wanted to teach the boys about family minhagim and gave out a questionnaire for the boys to fill out. My brother, who was in his class, brought this home, and my father excitedly filled it out. Years later, my other brother used this as a springboard to write a kunteres for our family of its minhagim, all from a handout to a fifth-grader! In the opening, he writes: "To the parents of my talmidim, Yiddishkeit has survived the galus intact because of our ability to transmit the mesorah of our fathers to our c...

The death toll from a powerful 7.7 magnitude earthquake in Myanmar jumped to more than 1,000 on Saturday as more bodies were pulled from the rubble of the scores of buildings that collapsed when it struck near the country’s second-largest city. The country’s military-led government said in a statement that 1,002 people have now been found dead and another 2,376 injured, with 30 others missing. The statement suggested the numbers could still rise, saying “detailed figures are still being collected.” Myanmar, also known as Burma, is in the throes of a prolonged and bloody civil war, which is already responsible for a massive humanitarian crisis. It makes movement around the country both difficult and dangerous, complicating relief efforts and raising ...
Maryland will now be the only state in the country without a flying mission, according to a new report from the Washington Post. A White House official on Friday said Maryland will not be getting a squadron of fighter jets from the District of Columbia Air National Guard, as previously promised. The Trump administration will keep them in D.C. to “continue to prioritize readiness and warfighting to achieve peace through strength for the United States.” This comes as the Maryland Air National Guard A-10 unit is being dismantled. The first 21 A-10 fighter jets were retired from Martin State Airport in Middle River earlier this week, with the rest to be gone by September. The A-10s have been based at Martin State Airport for more than 40 years, piloted b...
The US Justice Department seized $201,400 in cryptocurrency and a network of digital wallets intended for the support of Hamas, the department’s Office of Public Affairs announced. An encrypted group chat claiming association with Hamas allegedly provided donors with a shifting set of at least 17 cryptocurrency addresses, with funds reportedly sent to a wallet and laundered through a series of virtual currency exchanges and transactions by financiers and brokers, according to the Thursday press release. It was alleged that over $1.5 million in cryptocurrency had been laundered for Hamas through this system since October. An account valued at $89,900 and three more totaling about $111,500 were seized in the FBI Albuquerque field office-led investigat...
Baltimore, MD - March 30, 2025 - A diverse group of Maryland business owners is urging state lawmakers and the governor to reconsider a historic $1.6 billion increase in taxes and fees ahead of an anticipated budget vote in the final days of the 2025 legislative session. Todd Huff, the operations manager of his family’s automobile repair shops, told Spotlight on Maryland that he was thrilled to celebrate his company’s 82nd anniversary recently. However, he said that his joy on Friday turned to unease upon learning about a new $5 tire fee proposal that had been quietly added to the final Senate budget plan, which may soon become law. “I think it’s insane,” Huff said. “They’re talking about trying to protect the middle class, but it’s the mid...
In our last piece, we saw that Avodat Hashem also mandates care for other people. This care includes many levels.  All People The Torah prohibits the murder[1] of and theft[2] from any human being. In addition, we should act respectfully towards every human being because we are all created in Hashem’s image.[3] How Jews Treat Other People As Jews, we are called to a unique level of sensitivity towards others, guided by two distinct reasons and expectations from Hashem. The servitude we experienced in Mitzrayim should sensitize us to human suffering.[4] We know what being a foreigner feels like and should thus care for those in similar situations. We must also be more careful about how we treat others because we are Hashem’s people; our behavior either sanctifie...
Jerusalem, Israel - March 30, 2025  -Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, today (Sunday, 30 March 2025), at the start of the Government meeting [translated from Hebrew]:"This morning, I am going to going to discuss the three H's: First of all Hamas, then Hezbollah and then the Houthis.Regarding Hamas in Gaza – the military pressure is working. It is working because it is simultaneous: On the one hand, it is pounding Hamas's military and governing capabilities, and on the other it is creating the conditions for releasing our hostages. This is exactly what we are doing.Last night, the Security Cabinet convened and decided to increase the pressure, which was already increased, in order to further pound Hamas and create the optimal conditions for releasing our hostages.While...
