Jerusalem, Israel - Juy 18, 2024  - Defense Minister Yoav Gallant approved on Thursday the sending out of approximately 1,000 draft orders to haredi men on Sunday, marking the first orders sent out since a landmark ruling by Israel's High Court of Justice in June that officially ended the long-standing haredi exemption from IDF service. According to a statement put out by the defense ministry, the IDF intends to send out 1,000 draft orders in three waves, in order to meet its goal of 3,000 haredi draftees this year, in addition to the 1,800 who were slated to join existing IDF frameworks. The IDF will conduct a "learning process" at the end of each wave, in order to improve the process for the next wave, the statement read. The second wave will occur in appr...

Baltimore, MD - July 18, 2024 - Mrs. Hochberg’s first role in my life was as the person I was sent to for misbehaving in class. One would think that I, as well as the rest of the boys at Torah Institute, would not enjoy being in the office where we were sent for misbehaving, but this was not the case.We all very much enjoyed Mrs. Hochberg and the pleasant atmosphere that she created in her office. How did she accomplish this? How did she reprimand little boys without leaving hard feelings? Shlomo Hamelech says in Mishlei, “Kamayim hapanim lapanim kein lev ha’adam la’adam”. A person’s heart is able to detect what lies under the surface of another person.  If one person sincerely loves the other person, even if he has an unpleasant expression o...

President Biden has tested positive for COVID-19, the White House announced Wednesday evening. The president was expected to speak at a conference on Wednesday afternoon but UnidosUS President Janet Murguía came out on stage to tell the audience waiting for him that he tested positive. “Regrettably, I was just on the phone with President Biden and he shared his deep disappointment at not being able to join us this afternoon. The president has been at many events as we all know and he just tested positive for COVID,” she said
The Maryland Board of Public Works on Wednesday approved $149 million in cuts to the state budget proposed by Gov. Wes Moore. Chairing the Board of Public Works meeting in Annapolis, Maryland Gov. Wes Moore proclaimed that he’s managed budgets over his entire career. He added that reductions in the budget are necessary after stagnant economic growth over the last decade. “When we took office 18 months ago our team realized that Maryland’s business model was broken,” Moore said. “That’s not politics. That’s math.” Moore said the cuts will free up money for Medicare reimbursements and child care for low-income families. The cuts include $1.5 million to the state police forensic lab and a quarter of a million dollars for a drone security syst...
The International Criminal Court (ICC) is expected to approve Chief Prosecutor Karim Khan's request to file arrest warrants against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant within the next two weeks, Israel's Channel 14 News reported. According to the report, Israel had been relying on the promise by the previous Conservative government in Britain to file a challenge to the ICC's claims of jurisdiction over Gaza and Israel to prevent the warrants from being issued. However, now that a new Labour government has risen in the UK, there are conflicting reports as to whether the challenge will be filed. According to the Guardian, Labour Party officials have said that the party accepts the ICC's jurisdiction in this...
Ten members of an anti-Israel organization have been arrested for planning to disrupt the State Opening of the British Parliament, which King Charles was scheduled to address, the JC reported. The Metropolitan Police wrote on X, "There’s a significant policing presence in central London ahead of the State Opening of Parliament." "Last week, Youth Demand said they planned to disrupt the event," the police statement continued. "An hour ago, officers arrested 10 of them in Westminster on suspicion of conspiracy to cause public nuisance. A further 20 to 25 have now gathered in Victoria Embankment Gardens and further arrests are being made." In another post, the Metropolitan police stated, "Everyone has the right to peaceful protest, but not to commit criminal offenses or cau...
On a July 7th episode of “Eyes on Israel,” Rabbi Pesach Wolicki and special guest Rabbi Yaakov Menken of the Coalition for Jewish Values discussed Louisiana’s controversial new law requiring the Ten Commandments to be displayed in every public school classroom. The law has ignited nationwide backlash, including opposition from progressive Jewish groups, leading to a federal lawsuit. Rabbi Wolicki contextualized this “resistance” as part of a broader, alarming trend. He emphasized a crucial connection: “Right now in America, the biblical underpinnings of Western Civilization are under attack by those who despise and deny the truths of the Bible. And lo and behold, these same progressives who hate the Bible also have to hate Israel.” Both rabbis em...
A California chapter of the anti-Israel Students for Justice in Palestine organization claimed that the attempted assassination of former US President Donald Trump was staged in order to distract from alleged Israeli crimes in Gaza, the College Fix reported. The University of California San Diego SJP chapter posted the conspiracy theory on its Instagram page following the deadly shooting at a Trump campaign rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday. While the post was automatically deleted after 24 hours, a screenshot of the post shows that it read, “There was a horrific massacre of close to 100 Palestinians in Khan Younis today and people won’t be talking about it at all because we just have to accept that apparently people care more about Trumps staged assassination attem...
Thomas Matthew Crooks’ parents were looking for him on Saturday in the hours leading up to the Trump rally shooting and eventually called law enforcement to indicate that he was missing and they were worried, Fox News has learned.   It’s unclear what his parents told authorities, but the call happened on Saturday before Crooks later opened fire at Trump during the rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.  The parents are being cooperative with authorities and the FBI is still trying to determine a motive for the attack, sources also told Fox News.

During a session of the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee on Wednesday, Knesset members asked the IDF representatives to tell them how many pre-draft evaluation orders would be sent to haredim on Sunday. However Brig. Gen. Shai Taib, who was sent to the committee by the IDF, refused to answer the question and said: "I'll only know tomorrow evening when I finish calculating the data." Ynet published a page out of the notebook belonging to one of the IDF representatives at the session which read: "Do not say how many orders were sent! Do not say what the criteria are." The notes also read: "3,000 heredim, more than the usual 1,800. An operative placement and sorting process." The IDF Spokesperson responded to the report: "The report on Ynet about supposed 'notes in t...

Baltimore, MD – July 17, 2024 -9:27AM - The traffic light at Hooks Lane & Park Heights is totally out.Reminder: The rule for when traffic lights are out is to come to a stop at the light and to treat the intersection or roadway as a regular stop. If it is a four-way intersection, treat it like a four-way stop. If it is a two- or three-way intersection, treat it as a two- or three-way stop, respectively. The same right-of-way rules also apply, such as allowing vehicles in or at the stop first to proceed first and allowing the vehicle on the right to proceed if two vehicles arrive at the stop at the same time.
