White House National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby reiterated on Wednesday that the United States was not involved in the explosions of pagers and walkie-talkies in Lebanon over the last two days.
“What I can tell you is we were not involved in yesterday’s incidents or today’s in any way, and I don’t have anything more to share,” Kirby told reporters during a White House press briefing, as quoted by CNN.
Pressed in a follow-up exchange with another reporter, Kirby would not say if Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin received a heads up on Wednesday’s attack, which saw scores of walkie-talkies explode across Lebanon, during a Tuesday call with Defense Minister Yoav Gallant.

US Senator Bernie Sanders announced on Wednesday that he would file legislation seeking to block the sale of offensive US weapons to Israel, citing the toll on civilians of the war against Hamas in Gaza, Reuters reported.
Sanders, an independent who caucuses with Democrats, said he intended to file Joint Resolutions of Disapproval next week.
The US Arms Export Control Act gives Congress the right to stop a major foreign weapons sale by passing a resolution of disapproval. Although no such resolution has both passed Congress and survived a presidential veto, the law requires the Senate to vote if a resolution is filed and they have at times led to angry debates embarrassing to past presidents.

Arab terrorists from the village of Umm Safa on Wednesday afternoon buried a powerful explosive device on the rocky hill near the town of Ateret, where extensive development work is ongoing.
The device was discovered by an excavator driver returning home after a day of work. At the last moment, the driver noticed a large device in the middle of the road, with a cable extending out from it into the bushes located a distance away. The driver reported the device to security forces, and a sapper called to the scene neutralized the explosive device.

The Federal Reserve on Wednesday enacted its first interest rate cut since the early days of the Covid pandemic, slicing half a percentage point off benchmark rates in an effort to head off a slowdown in the labor market.
With both the jobs picture and inflation softening, the central bank’s Federal Open Market Committee chose to lower its key overnight borrowing rate by a half percentage point, or 50 basis points, affirming market expectations that had recently shifted from an outlook for a cut half that size.
Outside of the emergency rate cuts during Covid, the last time the FOMC cut by half a point was in 2008 during the global financial crisis.

We all remember when Ilan Ramon the first Israeli astronaut flew up to space and unfortunately his spaceship exploded. Ilan had asked a couple of questions before he boarded the Shuttle.
The first question he asked what is he supposed to do regarding keeping Shabbos? When does he mekabel Shabbos? He was told based on a Shaarei Teshuva in Orach Chaim 344:2 in the name of Reb Yonasan Eibshitz in his sefer Mor UKtziah, Just like those that live in Countries where the sun is up for six months one needs to count twenty four hours six times and then keep Shabbos for Twenty four hours.

It held a special Shabbos dinner at the Magen Abraham Synagogue, the only shul in the state of Gujarat, located in Ahmedabad (pronounced Amdavad), one of the largest cities of India and former state capital. Initial vague reports of networked devices exploding came in from Beirut, the Bekaa Valley, and Southern Lebanon.
If true, this would be the second consecutive day of potential sabotage and explosions in Lebanon after around 3,000 mostly members of Hezbollah were wounded by exploding beepers on Tuesday.
