Baltimore, MD - Aug. 9, 2024 - On Thursday night Mercaz Torah U'Tefillah hosted a community-wide Siyum on Seder Nashim as part of the Mishnah Yomi cycle. The delicious fleishig ‘9 Days’ siyum was sponsored by Dr. & Mrs. Yossi Scheller LZ'N his father, R' Avraham ben R’ Shmuel Helavi, Z”L.
Everyone enjoyed Divrei Bracha from the Zidichover Rebbe of Baltimore, followed by the siyum from Dr. Scheller. Rabbi Duvi Rubin, Rav of Ohr Yisroel, delivered the keynote address and was mechazek everyone as he stressed the Chashivus of learning Mishnayos on a daily basis.

Sefer Devarim encapsulates many of the events which transpired earlier in Sefer’s Shemos, Vayikra and Bamidbar. Parshas Devarim in particular chronicles much of the travels, wars and mistakes made by Klal Yisroel in the Midbar. Moshe Rabbeinu singles out the M’raglim for particular criticism in this weeks Parsha. He similarly brought up the M’raglim with Shevet Reuven and Gad at the end of Parshas Mattos. At that time, the leaders of Shevet Reuven and Gad had approached Moshe Rabbeinu to request that their Chelek be granted on the “other” side of the Yarden. In an effort at damage control, Vice President Kamala Harris’s campaign reaffirmed her support for Israel Thursday after initial reports of her meeting with pro-Palestinian leaders before a rally in Detroit suggested that she expressed an openness to an arms embargo for Israel.
A campaign source told The Jerusalem Post that Harris “did not express openness to an arms embargo.”
In a post on X, Harris’s National Security Adviser Phil Gordon said Harris has been clear and will always ensure Israel can defend itself against Iran and Iran-backed terrorist groups.
