Rabbi Yonah Sklare is a Rosh Kollel in Baltimore, MD as well as Magid Shiur at Congregation Shomrei Emunah. People who live in a busy area of Baltimore County will have a chance to learn more about plans to develop a large apartment building next to the White Marsh Mall.
Neighbors of the proposed project are concerned the development would cause excess traffic and school overcrowding.
Wednesday’s meeting is to view details on the project and hear county officials' comments on the development plan, which is to place a 516 unit apartment building next to the White Marsh Mall in the area of the old Sears store.
Neighbors in the area might have more than 1,000 new neighbors if zoning is approved to build a new apartment building on site.

It was a snowy day in Baltimore and school was canceled. My brother Shua was sitting and learning in the Agudah of Baltimore when his rebbi, Rabbi Juravel came over with pride and gave him a dollar! Shua felt like a million dollars that his rebbi had noticed him using his time wisely and rewarded him as well. Shua went home and put the dollar in an envelope, sealed it and wrote that he had received this dollar from Rabbi Juravel on this date for his learning when school was canceled.
For decades this envelope sat in his drawer. I had seen it numerous times and wondered what was such a big deal about this dollar? Getting ready for Passover in Israel this holiday season might be a little harder this year due to some meat shortages across the country.
With Ramadan around the corner and Passover falling not so far afterward, many people, Jews and Muslims, are stocking up their homes with food and people should expect to see shortages of both chicken and beef as well as higher prices.

Meet Joe. Joe was a client of mine over the course of a decade. He first came into my program when he was in his 50’s. He was already suffering from heart disease and diabetes. A new poll conducted for the haredi news website Kikar Hashabbat has revealed extremely high support for the government's judicial reform package among the haredi population, despite dire warnings from those on the Left that the reforms will lead to economic hardship.

The office of Palestinian Authority (PA) chairman Mahmoud Abbas on Monday issued a statement condemning Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, who said at an event in Paris on Sunday that “there is no such thing as a Palestinian people.”

Smotrich hails legislation: 'What you vote for is what you get!'
Israel’s parliament struck down its 2005 Disengagement Law early Tuesday, making Israeli presence in evacuated settlements in the West Bank legal.
The legislation passed on second and third readings by a 31-18 vote, making it law.
In 2005, Israel unilaterally withdrew from all settlements in Gaza and four in the northern West Bank. The new legislation paves the way for Israelis to return to these sites after an 18-year ban, a huge victory for Israel’s settlement movement.
One of the settlements, Homesh, housed an outpost with a Yeshiva, or religious Jewish school, that was slated for destruction.

More than 1,600 new immigrants to Israel wrote a letter to the Israeli government demanding a halt to legal reform, Israeli media reported.
In the letter, the immigrants asked to freeze the legislation which will be partially voted on by the Israeli parliament, the Knesset, early next month. The immigrant group, “Olim for Democracy,” also called on the Jewish Agency to take action on the issue. "Our task now is to return to the settlements in Gush Katif and rebuild them"
Following the Knesset's approved repeal of the 2005 law on disengagement from northern West Bank settlements, some members of the government's right-wing coalition indicated that the return of Israelis to Gush Katif in the southern Gaza Strip would be their next goal.
Otzma Yehudit (Jewish Power) MK Limor Son Har-Melech called for the repeal of the Gush Katif disengagement law and the restoration of the four evacuated West Bank settlements as soon as possible.
"We have infinite joy for a historic correction, but we must continue the mission until it is completed," Limor Son Har-Melech said in his speech to the Israeli parliament.
