Former President Trump holds at 17-point lead over Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) in a hypothetical GOP primary match-up, according to a new poll.
A Morning Consult poll released Wednesday showed Trump with 48 percent support among potential Republican primary voters, followed by DeSantis with 31 percent. Trump’s front-runner position differs from some polls since the November midterm elections, which have shown DeSantis closing the gap with Trump or taking a lead in some cases.
Former Vice President Mike Pence came in third with 8 percent, followed by former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) with 3 percent. Former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) both received 2 percent.

The Prime Minister’s Office under Benjamin Netanyahu is reviving long-stalled plans to construct a combined PMO and official residence, known colloquially as the “Israeli White House,” Kan news reported Sunday.
If fulfilled, the project is expected to cost hundreds of millions of shekels.
Plans for a single compound that will house the Israeli prime minister’s dwelling and offices have intermittently been considered for long years, but have been frozen time and again for various reasons.

Jeff Zients, the former White House coronavirus response coordinator, is expected to replace Ron Klain as White House chief of staff, two sources familiar with the plans told The Hill.
Zients left his role as Biden’s first COVID-19 czar in April 2022 after advising the pandemic response effort and was replaced by Ashish Jha. He returned this fall ahead of the midterm elections to assist Klain with preparations for staff turnover as well as other projects.
The White House declined to comment.

A close ally of President Vladimir Putin said on Sunday that deliveries of offensive weapons to Kyiv that threaten Russia's territories will lead to a global catastrophe and make arguments against using weapons of mass destruction untenable.
Vyacheslav Volodin, speaker of the Duma - Russia's lower house of parliament - warned that the United States and NATO's support of Ukraine is leading the world to a "terrible war".

Americans are piling on credit-card debt just as interest rates are reaching historic highs.
Multiple polls show American consumers sinking deeper into credit-card debt. A new survey from Bankrate, the consumer finance company, found 46 percent of cardholders carrying credit-card balances from month to month, up from 39 percent a year ago.
A survey by NerdWallet, the personal finance company, found the average U.S. household carrying $7,486 in credit-card debt, a 29-percent increase from a year earlier. A third poll, from the personal finance website GOBankingRates, found that 14 million Americans owe more than $10,000 in credit-card debt.

At least 10 people have died in a mass shooting following a Lunar New Year festival in a city east of Los Angeles, according to authorities.
The shooting in Monterey Park, California, occurred at a dance club and was reported around 10:22 p.m., the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said, after the Lunar New Year festival that was scheduled to end at 9 p.m. Police said the shooter was a male, but did not say whether he was still at large.
“Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide detectives are responding to assist Monterey Park Police Department with a shooting death investigation,” the department initially said in a short statement Sunday morning. “There are nine deceased. There is no additional information available at this time.”

Facebook was found to do the most in removing antisemitic content on the platform out of a ranking of other social media outlets, as compiled by Fighting Online Antisemitism (FOA).
Facebook, owned by Meta, has removed 35% of all antisemitic content in 2022 reported to the platform by the FOA. This is a significant increase from 2021 when it removed just 23% of reported antisemitic content.
In addition to Facebook, however, Meta also owns Instagram, which also removed a significant amount of antisemitic content. Altogether, Meta removed around 52% of all reported content.
Coming in second place on the ranking is TikTok, which removed 33% of antisemitic content – a similar rate to 2021.
