Shares of the social media company fell 20 percent in premarket trading
Elon Musk said on Friday he was putting a temporary halt on his much-anticipated deal to buy Twitter, sending shares in the social media giant plunging.
"Twitter deal temporarily on hold pending details supporting calculation that spam/fake accounts do indeed represent less than 5% of users," he wrote on Twitter.
Shares of the social media company fell 20 percent in premarket trading.
Twitter did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Reuters.
Earlier this month, Twitter estimated that false or spam accounts represented fewer than 5 percent of its monetizable daily active users during the first quarter.

Israeli military investigations said Friday that they have been unable thus far to determine whether an Arab-American journalist killed during a gunfight in Jenin Wednesday was struck by a bullet fired by Israeli soldiers or Palestinian Arab terrorists.
An IDF spokesperson on Friday announced the interim findings of an army probe into the death of Shireen Abu Aqleh, the 51-year-old Jerusalem-born journalist who was shot dead after terrorists opened fire on Israeli soldiers in Jenin Wednesday morning, sparking a firefight.
“It is the interim finding of the investigation that the source of the fire which killed the journalist cannot be determined,” the spokesperson said.

An Israeli police from an elite combat unit in the Border Police was seriously wounded Friday during a counterterrorism operation in northern Samaria, authorities revealed Friday afternoon.
The officer, a member of the Border Police’s Yamam unit, was wounded after Arab terrorists opened fire on Israeli forces operating in Jenin Friday morning. The officer was airlifted to Rambam Medical Center in Haifa for treatment, and is listed in serious but stable condition.

The Mepharshim fill in many of the blanks related to the history involved here. Mortgage rates continued to climb this week, adding more financial strain on hopeful home buyers as they wade into the competitive spring and summer markets.
The 30-year fixed-rate mortgage averaged 5.3%, a rise from last week, when it averaged 5.27%, according to data released Thursday by Freddie Mac. This time last year, the 30-year rate was 2.94%.
The rate for the 15-year fixed-rate mortgage averaged 4.48%, down from last week’s average of 4.52%. A year ago at this time, it averaged 2.26%. The five-year adjustable-rate averaged 3.98%, up from last week’s 3.96%. A year ago at this time, it averaged 2.59%.

The committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol by a pro-Trump mob has subpoenaed five Republican members of Congress, including House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy of California, after they refused to cooperate with the panel’s inquiry.
Rep. Bennie Thompson, D-Miss., who chairs the select committee, said Thursday that the panel has subpoenaed McCarthy and Reps. Mo Brooks of Alabama, Andy Biggs of Arizona, Scott Perry of Pennsylvania and Jim Jordan of Ohio.
The move marks a significant escalation in the committee’s efforts to obtain information related to lawmakers’ communications with then-President Donald Trump and White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows before, during and after the attack.

The coronavirus pandemic has created a number of shortages and now a new one can be added to the list: a shortage of baby formula.
While parents might be looking for ways to improvise amid the supply crunch, MU Health Pediatrician Chris Wilhelm said there are some things to do and also not do.
"Do not make your own formula. I am sure if I google 'homemade infant formula,' I would get a plethora of options to choose from and I venture to say none of those are safe," he said.
Due to the current scarcity, Wilhelm said people might be trying to add more water to the formula, which he said should be avoided.

With crime skyrocketing and summer just around the corner, should the streets of Baltimore be banned after dark?
This morning on WBAL Radio, Baltimore City Police Commissioner Michael Harrison gave his opinion when asked whether a city-wide curfew could help combat crime.
"It could. The issue becomes how do we enforce it," Harrison said.
Harrison then continued his response with more questions than answers.
"Do we have a place to bring the curfew violators? What’s the timeline? How do we track parents down? How long can they stay there," he said.
Turns out, even though they’re not enforcing it, Baltimore City has had a juvenile curfew in place for years now.

Nestled amongst the many mitzvos of this week’s parsha is the Omer offering. This was a barley offering, brought on the second day of Pesach which allowed the consumption of chadash (new crop of grain). In addition to the offering, we are commanded to count the days between Pesach and Shavuos. We are to count, seven weeks, forty-nine days, and on the fiftieth day, we celebrate the Yom Tov of Shavuos. This count creates a bridge between Pesach and Shavuos and we are reminded that our emancipation was to enable us to self-actualize through the acceptance of the Torah.

Federal officials this week laid out steps being taken to address the national baby formula shortage, which is escalating in Maryland.
The shortage is in large part because of massive Abbott Nutrition recalls of popular Similac, Alimentum and EleCare brands of baby formula.
The head of the nonprofit MOMCares — which supplies baby care essentials to Black mothers in Baltimore — is worried about mothers who don't have the option to breastfeed if they can't find baby formula.
