Prime Minister Naftali Bennett's International Spokeswoman, Keren Hajioff, has made the following statement today (Thursday, 12 May 2022) regarding the death of Al-Jazeera journalist Shireen Abu-Akleh:
"Shireen Abu Akleh's death is a tragedy. There's no other word for it. She was an experienced journalist, whom many of my own colleagues used to work with.
We have to get to the bottom of what happened — to find the truth and only the truth. Israel asked the Palestinians to conduct a joint investigation to find out what caused Shireen’s tragic death, but the Palestinians refused.

The body of Al Jazeera journalist Shireen Abu Aqleh, who was killed in a shootout between IDF forces and Arab terrorists in Jenin yesterday, was transported Wednesday evening by the Red Crescent from Ramallah through the Qalandiya checkpoint, on her way to the French hospital in Sheikh Jarrah.

The Baltimore City Board of Ethics on Thursday said City Council President Nick Mosby violated the city’s ethics law when he accepted donations to cover his legal expenses and those of his wife, Baltimore City State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby.
All four members of the board found the donations violated a section of the ethics law prohibiting “a public servant from soliciting—or facilitating the solicitation of—a gift from a controlled donor,” according to a newly published report.
The Mosby Trust, a group soliciting legal defense funds for what it calls an “unjust, politically-motivated federal criminal tax investigation,” is made up people known to the council president, though he declined to provide their names.

Deaths from COVID-19 are on the rise again after several weeks of upward ticking case rates sparked by Omicron variants.

The Supreme Planning Council of the Civil Administration on Thursday approved the construction of 4,000 new housing units in Judea and Samaria.
The council was supposed to approve an additional 1,800 housing units but at the request of US President Joe Biden, Prime Minister Naftali Bennett decided to reduce the number of housing units brought up for approval.
Among the construction plans approved: 500 units in Elkana, 170 in Emanuel, 286 in Kedumim, 192 in Sha'arei Tikva, 110 in Mevo Horon, 90 in Dolev, 32 in Nokdim, 56 in Nehogot, and 16 units in Ma'ale Adumim. Ambassador Danny Danon, Chairman, World Likud and Israel's former UN Ambassador to the United Nations, has slammed the Palestinian Authority (PA) for refusing to cooperate with Israel on the investigation of an Al Jazeera journalist's death.
"It is astounding that instead of calling for a joint and transparent investigation between Israel and the Palestinian Authority to uncover the truth of the recent incident, there is an immediate and collective rush to denounce Israel without any supporting evidence," Danon said.

At least 13 people have been shot in Baltimore, one killed, since Tuesday. While at the Port of Baltimore Wednesday, Gov. Larry Hogan said he questions the city leadership’s strategy on fighting violent crime “because it’s obviously not working.”
Despite at least six shootings this week, two of them with three or more victims, no arrests have been made.
However, Baltimore Police did make an arrest for an April shooting where a man fired indiscriminately at a gas station, hitting two people and himself.

The funeral of Palestinian Al Jazeera journalist Shireen Abu Akleh began on Thursday in Ramallah. Palestinian Authority head Mahmoud Abbas said he will go to the ICC to "punish the criminals" as her body travels from Ramallah in the West Bank to Jerusalem where she will be buried.
The Palestinian Authority confirmed on Thursday that it won't allow Israel to examine the bullet that killed Abu Akleh, even though it is one of the steps needed to determine culpability in her death.

Maryland Governor Larry Hogan and Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin are calling on Attorney General Merrick Garland, asking that the Department of Justice provide "adequate resources" to keep Supreme Court justices and their families safe following the recent Dobbs v. Jackson draft opinion leak.

May 11th through the 17th has been proclaimed as National Police Week by Governor Larry Hogan.
Hogan announced this in order to recognize the work police officers do to keep communities safe and honor those who have lost their lives in the line of duty.
“Serving in law enforcement is one of the most dangerous jobs in our nation and we are thankful for all those who put their lives in harm's way every day to protect us,” said Governor Hogan. “We will continue to honor the memories of those who have fallen in the line of duty and will continue to champion police officers every single day with record funding and support.”
Since 2015, the State has directed more than $618 million in grants to support law enforcement.
