A federal judge in Utica sided Tuesday with 17 health care workers who object to New York State's vaccine mandate for health workers on religious grounds, granting their request for an injunction that stops the state from enforcing the policy for those who claim a religion-based objection."There is no adequate explanation from defendants about why the 'reasonable accommodation' that must be extended to a medically exempt health care worker under 2.61 could not similarly be extended to a healthcare worker with a sincere religious objection," Judge David Hurd wrote.
Hurd's preliminary injunction means New York will continue to be barred from enforcing any requirement that employers deny religious exemptions.

Electra Consumer Products whose headquarters is in Rishon LeTsiyon, Israel, has signed a deal with the multinational chain of convenience stores, headquartered in Dallas, Texas, 7-Eleven, Calcalist reported Tuesday (העסקה נחתמה: סבן אילבן בדרך לישראל; חנות ראשונה בתוך שנה).
The agreement between the parties was signed for 20 years, with an option to extend for another 50 years.
Over the next 3 years, Electra will establish dozens of convenience stores throughout Israel, with the chain’s first stores expected to open in Tel Aviv next summer. Jamie Dimon, JPMorgan Chase & Co chief executive, is predicting that cryptocurrencies will be regulated by governments and that he thinks bitcoin is “worthless.”
“No matter what anyone thinks about it, government is going to regulate it. Americans’ trust in President Joe Biden continues to slide as people see more time needed to return to pre-pandemic life, according to a new Axios-Ipsos poll.
Just 13% of responding U.S. adults said they expected to be able to get back to their pre-COVID lives within six months, Axios reported Tuesday. That was down from 36% in June.
People expecting a return to normal life to take more than a year has tripled from 9% to 30% since June.

A 23-year-old bochur was shot with a BB gun in a drive-by shooting in Crown Heights tonight.
The shooting took place at about 10:40 p.m. on Montgomery Street, near Albany Avenue. Shots were fired from a passing SUV, striking the victim as he was walking down the street, hitting him in the head and the leg.
He was taken to the hospital by Hatzolah.
Police said that no words were exchanged between the shooter and the victim.
A search is on for the perpetrator and the vehicle.
There will be extra police coverage in Crown Heights tonight following this disturbing incident. An anti-Semitic motive may be at play here as police investigate.

Israel's ambassador to the United States and the United Nations, Gilad Erdan, responded on Monday to the interview given by the founders of Ben & Jerry’s to the Axios website, in which they insisted that the decision to stop selling Ben & Jerry’s ice cream in Judea and Samaria does not constitute a boycott of Israel.

A group of specialists in Israel will explore solutions to limit the negative impact of social media platforms, according to Channel 12.
The experts will be selected by Communications Minister Yoaz Hendel, and will look at potential options to stem the influence of social networks.
Members of the team could attempt to prompt Facebook for details on the company’s post algorithm, and ask for a reveal of the site’s censorship policies, Channel 12 explained.
Some potential regulations detailed in the news broadcast include holding platforms legally accountable for damaging content on their sites.
The possible restrictions could mark a first for the largely unregulated industry if imposed.

Governor Greg Abbott today issued an executive order stating that no entity in Texas can compel receipt of a COVID-19 vaccination by any individual, including an employee or consumer, who objects to such vaccination for any reason of personal conscience, based on a religious belief, or for medical reasons, including prior recovery from COVID-19. Governor Abbott also sent a message to the the Chief Clerk of the House and Secretary of the Senate adding this issue as an item to the Third Special Session agenda. The executive order will be rescinded upon the passage of such legislation.
