In the 2nd aliyah of Parshas Shemini, Moshe and Aharon bless Bnei Yisroel that the presence of Hashem should come down into their midst. Aharon blesses the people as well, and he raises his hands for this bracha. This is similar to the raising of Moshe's hands during the war with Amalek, in order to turn our hearts toward Hashem. We recognize that our efforts are not what accomplish; rather, it is Hashem's doing that makes our work come to fruition.

marked the opening of our community's COVID-19 vaccination clinic. The
initiative, led by Bikur Cholim of Baltimore and Lifebridge Health, was also made
possible thanks to the efforts of Baltimore City Councilman Yitzy
Schleifer, The Associated-Jewish Federation of Baltimore, Hatzalah of Baltimore and Ner Tamid. Over 50

Jerusalem, Israel - Apr. 6, 2021 - Holocaust Martyrs' and Heroes Remembrance Day will be observed this year starting Wednesday evening, April 7, 2021, through Thursday, April 8, 2021. The official State Opening Ceremony for Holocaust Remembrance Day will take place on Wednesday, April 7, at 8:00 pm, in Warsaw Ghetto Square, at Yad Vashem, on the Mount of Remembrance in Jerusalem.
Israeli President Reuven Rivlin and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will deliver remarks at the Opening Ceremony. Yad Vashem’s Acting Chairman Ronen Plot will kindle the Memorial Torch. Roza Bloch will speak on behalf of the survivors.

After a great Easter visit with my folks in FL, we loaded up a golf cart they were getting rid of, and I headed home to SC. Half way through my trip, I began to struggle with what I thought was a tall load and wind gusts! Thankfully two young Jewish men waved me over and alerted me to a flat tire! They stopped alongside me and offered me help. I am so grateful for their positive, persistent, gracious attitude! Fort Detrick commander hails rapid response from military police after base personnel neutralize shooter
A medic with the US Navy was shot dead on Tuesday at the Army base of Fort Detrick, Maryland, the US authorities said.
The man arrived at the base after opening fire at people in the vicinity of the nearby Riverside Tech Park, leaving at least two people injured.

Rabbi Kalonymus Kalman Shapira, a leading Chassidic Rabbi was one of the most prominent Rabbinic victims of the Holocaust. A leader of the Warsaw ghetto, he secretly ran a shul as well as covertly supervised outlawed Jewish rituals such as marriages and milah. He also delivered weekly Torah lessons which addressed the terrible nightmare which had engulfed European Jewry. The sefer was titled “Eish Kodesh” or sacred fire- a title which evokes the infernal horror which ultimately took his life.

As of tomorrow, April 7, 8:00 AM, entry restrictions to Israel will be somewhat relaxed. As opposed to numerous erroneous and or misleading reports, this does not mean that Israel is opening its borders to foreign tourists. Jerusalem,Israel - Apr. 6, 2021 - President of Israel Reuven Rivlin delivered remarks Tuesday afternoon in Jerusalem, April 6/ 23 Nissan, at the opening of the 24th Knesset. The president arrived at the red carpet-lined Knesset grounds in a procession led by motorcycles and horses adorned with Israeli flags. After a brief ceremony and bowing to the honor guard, President Rivlin entered the building to officially open the first session of the 24th Knesset.
Meanwhile outside, the streets near the Knesset were blocked and closed. Loud demonstrators were in the Wohl Rose Garden across from the Knesset shouting. "Busha" was their protest chant.

In Vayikra 9:22 the posuk tells us that Aharon lifted his hands and bentched Klal Yisroel. The Gemara in Sotah 38a says that we learn from the word “Ko“ that the bracha of the Kohanim is given while the Kohen stands. The Gemara says we learn this from a hekesh from the brachos that were given on Har Grizim where the Torah says “Yamdu.” Tosfos in Sotah 38a brings in the name of the Ri that if a Kohen gave the bracha while sitting, the bracha is ineffective as we compare it to the word “leshareis,” which means to serve, and a servant serves while he is standing. For Jews living in the former Soviet Union and other communist countries during the 1950s, observing Pesach with kosher matzah and wine was virtually impossible. Although many did try to observe the yom tov properly, they were unable to because of the limited resources available to them.
