Israel on Sunday will begin its campaign to vaccinate some 120,000 Palestinians who are legally employed in Israel and West Bank settlements, Israel’s military liaison to the Palestinians announced Wednesday.
The Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT), which is in charge of Palestinian civilian affairs, said it will roll out the immunization campaign at checkpoints and industrial zones across the West Bank. The government approved the plan on Sunday.

A bipartisan group of more than a dozen lawmakers on Wednesday introduced a bill banning members of Congress and senior staff from buying and selling stocks, most bonds and options contracts.
Called the Ban Conflicted Trading Act, the measure is intended to prevent lawmakers and high-level staffers from enriching themselves through trades based on potentially market-moving information.
Lawmakers and senior staffers are already banned from making investment decisions based on nonpublic data obtained through their positions by the STOCK Act, a law signed by former President Obama. The practice of insider trading is also illegal under several federal securities laws.

The number of Americans filing for first-time unemployment benefits rose slightly last week even as coronavirus caseloads drop nationwide and many states ease restrictions on business activity.
Figures released Thursday by the Labor Department show that 745,000 Americans filed first-time jobless claims in the week ended Feb. 27, slightly lower than the 750,000 forecast by Refinitiv economists. Last week's figure was revised up from 730,000 to 736,000.

There were 12,124 new unemployment claims filed in Maryland for the week of Feb. 20. That's down from 12,283 the week prior.

The Elysee Palace criticized Denmark and Austria on Thursday for planning an alliance with Israel regarding the development of anti-COVID vaccines, believing that cooperation between EU members is the best way to tackle the crisis.

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) — A package of police reform measures in Maryland with a statewide standard for use of force, expanded use of body cameras and greater public access to police misconduct records passed the state Senate on Wednesday.
A repeal of police job protections in a statewide disciplinary process that critics say have shielded authorities from responsibility in police brutality cases also was among the nine separate measures.
Police reform has been a top issue for Maryland lawmakers after the death of George Floyd in Minnesota last year and the nationwide protests that followed. JERUSALEM (JNS) – Ninety percent of Israelis over the age of 50 have been vaccinated or have recovered from COVID-19, said Israeli health minister Yuli Edelstein on Wednesday.
Seventy-five percent are eligible for a “Green Pass,” noted Edelstein, meaning that they received their second vaccine more than a week ago, or have recovered from the virus and have antibodies.
He continued to urge all Israelis to “follow the guidelines.”
One month ago on Feb. 3, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu proposed a “national goal” of vaccinating at least 90 percent of the over-50 age group, saying this would be the key to successfully exiting the lockdown. At that time, 77 percent of those aged 50 or over had been vaccinated.
