There are 333 COVID-19 patients admitted to hospitals in serious condition
New data released Tuesday by Israel's Health Ministry showed that 1,801 coronavirus cases were recorded on Monday.
As of Tuesday morning, 270 cases were detected since midnight.
Eight more deaths were recorded since yesterday, raising Israel's death toll to 554.
There are currently 24,598 active cases in the country, a figure which has significantly decreased over the last several days.
Some 770 people are hospitalized with COVID-19, among those 333 patients in serious condition, including 101 on artificial respirators. Read more at i24

Rabbi Adin Even-Israel Steinsaltz, 83, is hospitalized in serious condition at Shaare Zedek Medical Center, and on Tuesday morning his situation deteriorated.
Rabbi Steinsaltz is suffering from a lung infection, and is unconscious and on a respirator.
"My father is fighting a very serious incidence of lung infection (which is not connected to coronavirus), and suffered a deterioration this evening," his son Menachem Even-Israel wrote. "Please remember him in your thoughts and mention him in your prayers."
"May we see him return to full health, with G-d's help. Please pray and say a chapter of Psalms for my father, Rabbi Adin, the son of Rivka Leah."

Israeli Coronavirus Czar Prof. Roni Gamzu met Tuesday with Sephardic Chief Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef to consult with him on halakhic issues related to the fight against the coronavirus.
After the meeting, the Chief Rabbi and Prof. Gamzu issued a joint statement in which they implored the public to obey the instructions of the Health Ministry and other relevant authorities.
At the beginning of their joint statement, they highlight the health dangers and the need to tighten the guidelines for "dealing with the corona epidemic that has claimed many victims, young and old, healthy and sick."

No injuries reported to Israeli troops after combined air-ground assault neutralizes terrorists
The Israeli army foiled four terrorists trying to place a bomb on the Israel-Syria border, according to a statement early Monday morning.
"A short while ago, IDF [Israel Defense Forces] troops thwarted an attempt to place improvised explosive devices (IEDs) near the Alpha Line between Syria and Israel," the IDF spokesperson's unit said.
Soldiers of the Maglan special forces, according to Ynet, had taken up clandestine positions along the border when notified of the approaching squad.

FALLS CHURCH, Va. (AP) — A federal appeals court on Monday revived a lawsuit challenging Maryland’s rules for obtaining a handgun as unconstitutionally restrictive.
The unanimous ruling from the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Richmond reinstates the lawsuit, which was first filed in 2016 and tossed out of court by a federal judge last year.
The lawsuit challenges Maryland’s handgun licensing law, passed in 2013, which requires gun purchasers to complete four hours of safety training in addition to passing background checks, being 21 years old and a Maryland resident.
The case was initially dismissed because the plaintiffs, including the advocacy group Maryland Shall Issue, lacked standing to sue.

The Gemara in Brachos 41b tells us that when it comes to which fruit comes first regarding brachos and chashivus we look to see which fruit is written first in the posuk. In addition, the posuk mentions the word eretz twice, so we say that whatever fruit is closer to the word eretz comes first. If there is a tie, then the one closer to the first eretz comes first. According to a professor at Iran’s Tehran University, burning U.S. flags will help Iran establish solidarity with protesters in the United States.
In an interview with Iran’s Ofogh TV on July 18, professor Foad Izadi said, “We aren’t burning enough American flags.”
It was important to do so, he said, because “we need to prioritize our target audience if we want to start acting in America.”

The Trump administration is considering taking “a number of options” without congressional approval as negotiations on the fourth coronavirus stimulus relief package are stalled between the White House and lawmakers on Capitol Hill, Fox News has learned.
A senior administration official told Fox News Monday that the administration is weighing taking unilateral action to quell the economic repercussions of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“As the negotiations continue to progress as a snail’s pace, the administration is considering a number of options that might be available without congressional legislative action,” the official told Fox News.

President Trump on Monday morning threatened legal action over a bill passed by the Nevada legislature to send mail-in ballots to all voters ahead of the Nov. 3 presidential election.
The legislature on Sunday pushed through the bill despite objections from Secretary of State Barbara Cegavske, the only statewide Republican elected official, on a party-line vote. It would give Democratic Gov. Steve Sisolak the power to command the secretary of state to adjust election procedures during a state of emergency.

BALTIMORE, MD — As Hurricane Isaias gathers strength in the Atlantic, much of Maryland is under a tropical storm warning, and emergency management officials are urging residents to prepare. Forecasters say extensive flood damage is anticipated in Maryland, while wind damage may also occur.
"Be prepared for potential power outages, flash floods and tidal flooding," Russ Strickland, executive director for the Maryland Emergency Management Agency (MEMA), said in a statement.
