The Land of Israel Caucus of the Knesset proposed a bill on Monday to apply sovereignty to all Jewish communities in Yehuda and Shomron, not just the 30 percent laid out in U.S. President Donald Trump’s “Peace to Prosperity” plan. The Caucus is a large lobby group made up of right-wing coalition and opposition lawmakers. According to a Channel 12 report, the bill—presented by members of Knesset Haim Katz (Likud) and Bezalel Smotrich (Yamina)—seeks to “create a mechanism for the preservation of non-sovereign territory, and for the prevention of Arab or international takeover” of territories in Area C [that the Oslo Accords determined would gradually be transferred to Palestinian jurisdiction] outside the “sovereignty map.” “The ...
Yerushalayim has started construction on parts of an NIS 3 billion (approximately $870 million) major highway that will eventually serve as a ring road around Israel’s largest city, with the goal of significantly alleviating traffic throughout the capital. At the same time, planners hope that the project will provide easier access for those entering or passing through the city from all sides. Construction has already commenced on the southern and central sections of the Eastern spur of the highway, which consists of a three-pronged, 10-kilometer (6.2 miles) stretch of pavement known as “The American Road.” When fully completed, the road, which will include bridges and tunnels, will stretch from the Arab neighborhood of Tzur Baher in the southeast to the Naomi Shemer Tunn...
The United States is being ravaged by a deadly pandemic that is growing exponentially, overwhelming health care systems and costing thousands of lives, to say nothing of an economic recession that threatens to plague the nation for years to come. But the American public seems to be over the pandemic, eager to get kids back in schools, ready to hit the bar scene and hungry for Major League Baseball to play its abbreviated season. The startling divergence between the brutal reality of the SARS-CoV-2 virus and the fantasy land of a forthcoming return to normalcy has public health experts depressed and anxious about what is to come. The worst is not behind us, they say, by any stretch of the imagination. “It’s an absolute disconnect between our perceived reality and our actual r...

From the White House, President Trump tweeted his delight that his former Justice Department chief lost out to his preferred candidate, former Auburn University football coach Tommy Tuberville, in Alabama’s runoff U.S. Senate primary election. Sessions, meanwhile, only had warm words for the president. “Let me say this about the president and our relationship. I leave with no regrets,” the 73-year-old said. “I was honored to serve the people of Alabama in the Senate and I was extraordinarily proud of the accomplishments we had as attorney general… I took the road less traveled, didn’t try to excuse myself or get in a fight or undermine the leader of our country and the great wo...

It never ends!! If it's not one thing, it's another. At the tail end of his life, having weathered forty years of complaints, rebellions, and near-disasters, Moshe had every reason to expect a tranquil conclusion to his legendary career. Having appointed his successor and eased the Jewish people to the border of Israel, he can now focus on writing the final book of the Torah. The new generation, which would ultimately inherit the land of Israel had been counted, the 'lottery' mechanism for land allocation had been established and, finally, the order of family inheritance had been institutionalized. Everything was ready for the final and long-awaited entry into the promised land….until it wasn't!! Two and a half tribes approach Moshe proposing settlement on ...

Ron DeSantis was sued on Monday for failing to provide an American Sign Language (ASL) interpreter during his press conferences and televised briefings regarding the coronavirus pandemic and the current hurricane season. Today Moderna published the data on Phase 1 clinical safety trials on 45 adults. It looks like two doses per season will be the established dose approximately one month apart . The 100 microgram dose appears to have elicited very good neutralizing antibody response with minimal immediate side effects. Phase 2 studies looking at 600 adults will likely be reported on in the next 4-6 weeks. The company is initiating Phase 3 trials on 30,000 individuals after July 27, 2020. This will be the most critical phase in order to see how the vaccine protects in actual exposed populations during an outbreak. The post Phase 3 observation period is expected to go on for several months in order to ensure safety as discussed previously. At that point if the current progress continues , the FDA w...

Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz said Tuesday that the coronavirus crisis would continue at least until the end of next year, while infections continued to rise within the ranks of the IDF. Israel Hayom reported that, in a Zoom meeting on Tuesday with the IDF commanders tasked with combating the coronavirus, as well as Defense Ministry officials, Gantz said that the military’s crisis-management measures would have to remain active until the end of 2021. All activities during that year, he added, “will be around the crisis.” “I regret to say I find it difficult to see how this ends earlier,” Gantz said. “Therefore, your task is to continue to provide this operational-logistical service, and to create breathing space for yourself, the commanders an...
New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo is facing blistering criticism over an internal report that found no strong link between a controversial state directive that sent thousands of recovering coronavirus patients into nursing homes and some of the nation’s deadliest nursing home outbreaks. Scientists, health care professionals and elected officials assailed the report released last week for failing to address the actual impact of the March 25 order, which by the state’s own count ushered more than 6,300 recovering virus patients into nursing homes at the height of the pandemic. And some accused the state of using the veneer of a scientific study to absolve the Democratic governor by reaching the same conclusion he had been floating for weeks — that unknowingly infected nursing ho...
Hillary Clinton warned that the US should be prepared for President Trump to blame a re-election loss in November on voter fraud and refuse to leave the White House. “Well, I think it is a fair point to raise as to whether or not, if he loses, he’s going to go quietly or not. And we have to be ready for that,” the 2016 Democratic presidential nominee told host Trevor Noah on Monday’s “The Daily Show.” “I want a fair election. If people get to vote and they, for whatever reason, vote for Donald Trump — OK. We’ll accept it, not happily,” she said. “But I don’t think that’s what will happen, because I think the more people who can actually get to the polls, whether by mail or in-person, and get their votes counted...
