Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan (R) called on Baltimore officials to "regain control of their own streets" after protesters toppled a statue of Christopher Columbus in the city over the weekend.
"While we welcome peaceful protests and constructive dialogue on whether and how to put certain monuments in context or move them to museums or storage through a legal process, lawlessness, vandalism and destruction of public property are completely unacceptable," Hogan said in a statement Sunday.
"That is the antithesis of democracy and should be condemned by everyone, regardless of their politics. Baltimore City leaders need to regain control of their own streets and immediately start making them safer," Hogan added.

Toronto restaurant comes under fire asserting that "Zionists are Nazis". Its owner says she is not anti-Semitic.
B’nai Brith Canada is calling on members of the Jewish community in Toronto to take action against a local establishment that has used anti-Semitic tropes and posted pro-terrorist content on social media.
Foodbenders, located in the Bloordale neighbourhood of Toronto, has turned its ire toward the Jewish community, B’nai Brith Canada said in a statement on Sunday.

Thousands of police officers were deployed across Israel on Sunday as coronavirus cases continue to rise, threatening to undo weeks of efforts to contain the spread of the deadly disease.
Israel Police released a statement which said that officers would be deployed to multiple command posts set up around the country to enforce coronavirus restrictions that Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced last week.
Due to the increase of the spread of coronavirus across the country, the police statement reads, “it was decided that a task force of eight command posts will be specifically involved in implementing health and safety rules and regulations on public transport, public areas, restaurants.”

Florida surpassed 200,000 coronavirus cases as the state reported another 10,059 new positives on Sunday.
The state has reported more than 10,000 new cases for a fourth straight day as the country sees another surge in the pandemic. Florida is among 11 states where numbers have spiked, at least doubling over the past two weeks.
On Saturday, Florida reported 11,458 new cases of the virus, which breaks its previous records and approaches New York’s highest daily tally of 11,571 from April.

Israel is in the midst of a renewed, “very strong” resurgence of COVID-19 that will see “an increase and a doubling of the number of severe cases,” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said at the start of Sunday’s weekly Cabinet meeting.
“The World Health Organization has marked the Middle East as a focus of the global spread. This is not passing over Israel. It is here,” said Netanyahu, who added that the new outbreak posed a challenge for the state of Israel and its health system.
Four Israelis died of COVID-19 on Saturday, bringing the country’s death toll since the start of the pandemic to 330, according to the Israeli Health Ministry.

The US notched 57,683 COVID-19 cases in 24 hours Friday, a tally by Johns Hopkins University showed, the third consecutive day with record numbers of new infections.
The Baltimore-based university’s tracker showed the total number of cases since the pandemic reached the US at 2,793,022 as of 8:30 pm (0030 Saturday GMT).
The university also recorded a further 728 fatalities, bringing the total US death toll to 129,405.

The incident at Natanz nuclear facility near Tehran has caused “significant damage,” the Atomic Energy Organisation of Iran said on Sunday.
A spokesperson for the national organization added that the damage could slow down the development of centrifuges in the site.
According to outlet Haaretz, an Iranian report cited a top official who said that following the incident, his country will build a “larger facility with more advanced equipment.”

Israel is a world leader in digitization, cyber and medical technology, Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) Deputy Secretary General Ulrik Vestergaard Knudsen said on Sunday.
Speaking at an online conference hosted by The Jerusalem Post/Maariv group marking 10 years since Israel joined the OECD, Knudsen said, “The Israeli level of development and digitization is twice that of other OECD countries.”

BALTIMORE — We know turtles have a reputation for being a tad slow-moving, but would that change if one has a custom Lego wheelchair attached to it?
The zoo fastened a custom Lego wheelchair on an Eastern box turtle that was injured in the summer of 2018, and today the turtle has been released to its natural habitat after healing thanks to the new ride.
In July of 2018, the turtle was found in Druid Hill Park with several fractures along the bottom of his shell that made it hard for him to move.
Dr. Ellen Bronson is the senior director of animal health, conservation, and research at the zoo. She said the placement of the fractures was unique and wouldn't allow for usual healing methods to work, meaning the team had to get creative.

Iran will retaliate against any country that carries out cyber attacks on its nuclear sites, the head of civilian defense said, after a fire at its Natanz plant which some Iranian officials said may have been caused by cyber sabotage.
The Natanz uranium-enrichment site, much of which is underground, is one of several Iranian facilities monitored by inspectors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the UN nuclear watchdog.

U.S. Surgeon General Dr. Jerome Adams on Friday suggested a current flat death rate in states seeing a troubling rise in coronavirus cases could be misleading.
In remarks on “Fox & Friends” Friday, Adams warned: “We know deaths lag at least two weeks and can lag even more.”
“In the beginning, nursing homes were hit really hard, and the majority of our deaths were occurring on people who were 60, 65 and older,” he said.
“Now the majority of cases are in people who have an average age of 35, and so those folks are gonna have less comorbidities, they’re gonna be less likely to end up in the hospital and to die.”

The Feds are looking into possible campaign finance misdeeds by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s chief of staff and lead rainmaker, who suddenly resigned Friday, federal sources told The Post.
