Mary L. Trump, the author of an explosive book about her uncle President Donald Trump, asked a court to lift a restraining order against her, saying in an affidavit filed Thursday that she was misled by the family into signing a confidentiality agreement in an inheritance case two decades ago.
Her request, filed with the New York Supreme Court, follows a decision by the court’s appellate division on Wednesday to lift a restraining order against Simon & Schuster, allowing publication of the book to go forward. That court left in place a restraining order against Mary Trump.
The affidavit marks the first time Mary Trump has commented publicly about her book, as well as her allegation that she was misled when signing the confidentiality agreement.

Outspoken Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick says Anthony Fauci “doesn’t know what he’s talking about” when it comes to his state’s reopening plan and suggested the head of the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases had been “wrong every time” about the coronavirus pandemic.
“Fauci said that he’s concerned about states like Texas that skipped over certain things. He doesn’t know what he’s talking about,” Patrick said on Fox News after Fauci testified before a Senate committee that more than 50% of new infections in Texas, Florida, California and Arizona are in areas where there are surges.
“He has been wrong every time, on every issue. I don’t need his advice anymore. We’ll li...
A Henry Ford Health System study shows the controversial anti-malaria drug hydroxychloroquine helps lower the death rate of COVID-19 patients, the Detroit-based health system said Thursday.
Officials with the Michigan health system said the study found the drug “significantly” decreased the death rate of patients involved in the analysis.
The study analyzed 2,541 patients hospitalized among the system’s six hospitals between March 10 and May 2 and found 13% of those treated with hydroxychloroquine died while 26% of those who did not receive the drug died.

The U.S. on Thursday set a record for daily new COVID-19 cases with 55,220, surpassing Wednesday’s record mark of 52,789.
The record numbers are due to the significant spikes in cases across the country, as many states have been setting and breaking records of their own the past two weeks.
Florida, which broke its record for new cases over the weekend, set a new record on Thursday with 10,109 more coronavirus cases. Georgia also set a new record for cases on Thursday with 3,472.

The country’s top infectious disease expert said Thursday that a more infectious strain of the coronavirus may be emerging.
Dr. Anthony Fauci said research suggests Italy was devastated by a different strain of the coronavirus than the one that originated in Wuhan, China.
The main difference between the two, Fauci said, is that Italy’s version passes from person to person more effectively, making it even more difficult to contain.
“It just seems that the virus replicates better and may be more transmissible,” said Fauci.

This weeks Parsha relates one of the most difficult stories which took place in the Midbar. With Bnei Yisroel complaining about the lack of water after the death of Miriam, Hashem instructs Moshe to “speak” to the rock and it would yield water. (Chukas 20:8) Instead, Moshe Rabbeinu “strikes” the rock. The rock does in fact yield water but Hashem tells Moshe that on account of his not “believing in him”, he would not be Zoche to lead Bnei Yisroel into Eretz Yisroel. (20:12) This leaves us to deal with the age old question – How could Moshe Rabbeinu hit the rock. Why on this singular occasion did he deviate from Hashem’s instruction?
In order to properly answer this question, it is helpful to understand some...
Baltimore, MD - July 3, 2020 - Light Up for Kids got started when I was sitting at home one day during this 'unplanned vacation' and I decided to write a newsletter for my family. I sat down, gathered some world news, and some family happenings, and put it together in about a half hour. The next day, I found out that my cousin Sari Zolty from Toronto, had also put together a magazine for our family. I thought it would be fun for all of us to work together, and we can make something nice and meaningful. And here we are. I do a lot more work than I thought I would be doing, since I have taken over as the editor- but I enjoy the responsibility. To subscribe please email firstname.lastname@example.org

Baltimore, MD - June 25, 2020 - As COVID-19 wreaked havoc throughout the world, the Vaad Harabanim of Baltimore, together with medical personnel and community leaders, worked tirelessly to address these uncertain times and protect our community. These efforts ensured our physical safety, while maintaining the kedushah and avodah of our community.
As a gesture of our tremendous hakoras hatov for their dedication, the Baltimore community is invited to participate in the writing of a Sefer Torah in their honor, which will be given to the Baltimore chapter of Misaskim, and will continue to benefit the entire Baltimore community for years to come.

NEW YORK (JNS) – Anti-Defamation League national director and CEO Jonathan Greenblatt has come under fire from Jewish groups for appearing on the MSNBC show “Politics Nation With Al Sharpton” on Sunday to promote the ADL’s call for corporations to boycott Facebook in July over its unwillingness to ban hate speech on the social-media giant’s platform. While the message seems on target with ADL’s work, the idea of partnering with someone like Sharpton, who has a history of anti-Semitism and other bigotry, is hypocritical, if not counterproductive, they say.
Rabbi Abraham Cooper, the Simon Wiesenthal Center’s associate dean and director of global social action, suggested that it was wrong of Greenblatt to appear the show since the well-known reverend...
ATLANTA, GA (JNS) – Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter has criticized Israel’s plans to apply sovereignty to parts of Judea and Samaria, more commonly known as the West Bank.
“Israel’s planned annexation of up to 30 [percent] of the West Bank as early as today would violate international laws prohibiting the acquisition of territory by force and changing the status of occupied territories,” said Carter in a statement on Wednesday. “The planned move would violate the Oslo and Camp David Accords, and jeopardize Israel’s peace treaties with Jordan and Egypt.”
“For decades, Jewish settlements in the West Bank have expanded, jeopardizing any possible establishment of a sovereign Palestinian state alongside Israel,” he said. “Fo...
MIAMI — The mayor of Florida’s most populous county has issued a new overnight curfew and will close some businesses that reopened in June.
Miami-Dade Mayor Carlos Gimenez says the 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. curfew begins Friday night and will be in place indefinitely. The order closes casinos, movie theaters and other entertainment venues.
“This curfew is meant to stop people from venturing out and hanging out with friends in groups, which has shown to be spreading the virus rapidly,” Gimenez said in a statement.
On Thursday, Florida reported a new daily record of 10,109 COVID-19 positive cases. The state’s health department on Thursday tallied 325 new coronavirus hospitalizations in Florida, one of the biggest 24-hour jumps. Read more at CNBC
DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — A top Iranian security spokesman says the cause of a fire at the Natanz nuclear site is known, but will not be made public at this time due to “security reasons.”
The semiofficial Tasnim news agency quoted spokesman Keyvan Khosravi of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council as giving the comment.
Khosravi did not elaborate, but his comments show the concern felt at the highest levels in Iran over the incident early Thursday.
U.S.-based analysts have told The Associated Press the fire and apparent explosion at the site struck a new centrifuge assembly plant. Iranian officials had sought to downplay the blast, saying it struck an under-construction “shed.”
WASHINGTON (Newsmax) – Dr. Anthony Fauci says the spikes in coronavirus cases are “the worst” the U.S. has seen and warned that the virus is showing signs of mutating in a way that makes it easier for the pathogen to spread.
Fauci, the director of the National Institute for Allergy and Infectious Diseases and a member of the White House coronavirus task force, made the comments at an online event hosted by the Journal of the American Medical Association.
“The data is showing there’s a single mutation that makes the virus be able to replicate better and maybe have high viral loads,” Fauci said in an interview with JAMA’s Dr. Howard Bauchner. “We don’t have a connection to whether an individual does worse with this or not; it just seems...
The World Health Organization walked back its claim it had received a warning about coronavirus from the Chinese government, giving support to accusations from President Donald Trump that the organization is China’s puppet.
The WHO recently revised its “Timeline of WHO’s response to COVID-19” on Tuesday after Republicans in the House Foreign Affairs Committee released its Interim Report on Origins of COVID-19 Pandemic. It concluded “despite public reporting to the contrary … China never notified the WHO about the outbreak in Wuhan.”
China task force Chairman Rep. Michael McCaul, R-Texas, led the report.
“I’m glad to see the WHO and the Chinese Communist Party have both read my interim report on the origins of the pandemic and are fi...

With several European parliamentarians expressing opposition to Israel’s planned application of sovereignty in Yehuda and the Shomron, lawmakers from Latin America, Europe and Africa signed a statement in support for sovereignty.
While British Prime Minister Boris Johnson advocated against the plan on Wednesday, saying that it violates international law, hundreds of members of parliament from 20 countries expressed their “full support” for the State of Israel, affirming its biblical and legal right to sovereignty to the Jewish communities of Yehuda and the Shomron.
“We affirm that the Jewish communities of Judea and Samaria have been a key part of the biblical and ancestral homeland of the Jewish nation for centuries,” stated the letter, noting that Israel &...
