New York - Airline fares within the U.S. are inching higher again.
American Airlines confirmed Thursday that it raised domestic fares $5 each way. J.P. Morgan said Southwest Airlines followed by raising prices on tickets bought within a week of the flight and favored by business travelers.
Southwest did not immediately comment.
Airlines had raised prices just five weeks ago, and J.P. Morgan analyst Jamie Baker said he wasn’t expecting another round of increases so soon. Spot prices for jet fuel, a major airline expense, have dipped since May.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Some of the younger candidates in the crowded Democratic presidential primary are suggesting that the early front-runner, 76-year-old Joe Biden , is too mired in the past.
Former Texas Rep. Beto O’Rourke , 46, and Pete Buttigieg , the 37-year old mayor of South Bend, Indiana, have stepped up questions this week about whether Biden really provides new perspectives for the direction of the country after the 2020 election.
“We cannot return to the past,” O’Rourke told MSNBC on Thursday. “That cannot be who we are going forward. We’ve got to be bigger, we’ve got to be bolder.”

SAN DIEGO (AP) — The wife of U.S. Rep. Duncan Hunter pleaded guilty Thursday to a single corruption count and agreed to testify against her husband at his trial on charges the couple spent more than $200,000 in campaign funds on trips, dinners, clothes and other personal expenses.
Margaret Hunter served as campaign chair for her husband, and after the couple was indicted last year the Republican congressman from California suggested his wife was to blame for any misuse of funds.
They both pleaded not guilty but she reversed course and withdrew her plea Thursday during a brief federal court hearing.
In a statement read by her attorney after accepting a plea agreement that could send her to prison for up to five years, she said she accepts full responsibility for her actions. ...

United Nations - The head of the Arab League is warning against any peace plan that ignores a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
Secretary General Ahmed Aboul Gheit also warns against any proposal that creates an alternative economic track that perpetuates Israel’s occupation of territory the Palestinians want for their independent state.
Aboul Gheit never mentioned the United States in his briefing to the U.N. Security Council on Thursday but his message appeared aimed at the long-awaited U.S. plan to end the decades-old conflict. Its economic provisions are scheduled to be rolled out at a workshop in Bahrain June 25-26.

There is a severe thunderstorm warning for Baltimore, Carroll, Frederick, Howard and Montgomery counties until 6 p.m. on Thursday, June 13. The National Weather Service issued the warning after 5 p.m.
During the warning period, 60 mph wind gusts and quarter-sized hail are possible.
People should stay inside if possible and not drive under trees, since large branches may fall.
An isolated tornado is possible, according to the National Weather Service, which issued the warning after radar indicated severe thunderstorms over southeastern Frederick and northwestern Baltimore counties before 5:15 p.m. that was moving east at 40 mph.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said Thursday that the United States government blames Iran for attacks on two oil tankers near the Persian Gulf, casting it as the latest in a series of "provocative actions" that have sharply raised tensions in the region.
A U.S. assessment of Iran's responsibility for the attacks, which forced the evacuation of the crews in international waters, was based in part on intelligence as well as on the expertise needed to carry out the operation, Pompeo told reporters in Washington.

Gov. Larry Hogan said he's encouraged by the burying of the hatchet between Baltimore City leaders and the owners of Pimlico Race Course.
On Wednesday, Mayor Bernard C. "Jack" Young announced the city would withdraw a lawsuit that aimed to condemn and take over the track. The Maryland Jockey Club contended the city had no authority to regulate horse racing. Young and The Stronach Group, which owns the jockey club, are set to resume talks aimed at restarting what city officials called "good faith negotiations" on the future of horse racing in Baltimore.

The United Nations Security Council on Wednesday adopted a resolution calling for the release of all individuals who are reported missing as a result of armed conflict.
Unanimously adopting Resolution 2474, the U.N.’s top body called upon parties in armed conflict to take all appropriate measures to actively search for individuals reported missing, to enable the return of their remains and to account for persons reported missing “without adverse distinction.”
Briefing the Security Council after the resolution’s adoption, Peter Maurer, president of the International Committee of the Red Cross, said that last year alone more than 45,000 people were registered as missing by the ICRC’s Central Tracing Agency, and that this figure was the tip of the iceberg.

The number of unauthorized immigrants living in the U.S. hit a new low in 2017, according to estimates released Wednesday by the Pew Research Center.
About 10.5 million lived in the U.S. in 2017 without citizenship or legal authorization. That’s down from a peak of 12.2 million estimated in 2007, according to Pew. The new report found the decline was largely driven by Mexicans leaving the U.S.
Researchers also found unauthorized immigrants are staying longer in the U.S. The average person had lived in the country for 15 years in 2017, the longest track record of residency since 1995.

WASHINGTON—White House press secretary Sarah Sanders will be leaving the job at the end of the month to return to her home state of Arkansas, President Trump said on Twitter Thursday.
“She is a very special person with extraordinary talents, who has done an incredible job! I hope she decides to run for Governor of Arkansas,” Mr. Trump said.
Ms. Sanders assumed the role in July 2017, after Mr. Trump’s first press secretary Sean Spicer, left the job.

A rocket fired from the Gaza Strip Thursday night hit the Hesder Yeshiva in the town of Sderot; there were no reports of injuries. A Code Red alarm was heard throughout the region.
Students at the Yeshiva were away, having left to spend Shabbat with their families. Police sappers are at the scene to handle the rocket parts.
