A New York Police officer was arrested and charged with being drunk at an Inner Harbor hotel after assaulting Baltimore Police who tried to make him leave. Officer Eugene Donnelly, 32, of Bronxville, N.Y., was charged with first- and second- degree assault and disorderly conduct following the incident early Tuesday morning, according to police. Baltimore Police were called to the Hilton Baltimore on 401 West Pratt Street around 7 a.m. for reports of an intoxicated male refusing to leave the hotel lobby and acting disorderly, police spokesperson Detective Chakia Fennoy said.  On the scene, Donnelly refused to leave the hotel and assaulted officers when they arrested him.  Donnelly was released from jail on his own recognizance on Wednesday. Maryland State Police may soon join the investigation into the 2017 death of Baltimore police Detective Sean Suiter. "There have been preliminary discussions about Maryland State Police and the Baltimore Police Department conducting a joint review of the case," state police spokesman Gary Sheridan said. "However, Maryland State Police will not be assuming responsibility for the investigation."  Suiter was killed by a gunshot to his head fired at close range by his own service weapon. West Bank - Palestinian officials say they have inaugurated their first solar panel plant as part of a plan to reduce their dependence on Israeli power sources. Mohammed Mustafa, head of the government’s investment fund, says that Wednesday’s plant opening in the ancient West Bank city of Jericho is one of four planned plants. One has been donated from China. He says the Palestinians rely almost entirely on power imported from Israel and the new plants are part of a long-term project to reduce that by 50% over the next decade. He says the four solar panel stations should cover about 30% of Palestinian power consumption. Mustafa says the West Bank consumes about $700 million a year in electricity.
John Walker Lindh, who became known as "American Taliban" after he was captured in 2001 fighting alongside the Taliban in Afghanistan, is set to be released from prison Thursday despite concerns among some lawmakers that he may remain a threat. Lindh, who converted to Islam before traveling to Pakistan and Afghanistan in November 2000, was captured in late 2001 and was later present when several Taliban prisoners launched an operation that killed a CIA officer who had been interrogating him and other prisoners. An El Al plane that was making its way from Israel to the Austrian capital of Vienna on Tuesday afternoon landed in the Larnaca airport in Cyprus, due to the smell of smoke on board the plane. In a statement an El Al spokesperson said, “El Al flight 363 was diverted to a sub-field in Larnaca due to a report of a burning smell in the passenger compartment. Firefighters in Israel are working to extinguish 6 blazes caused by incendiary balloons near Gaza. A spokesman for the Israeli Fire and Rescue Services says the fires were all burning in the Eshkol Regional Council adjacent to the Gaza Strip and were caused by terrorist from Gaza flying incendiary balloons over the border.
