ANKARA, Turkey (AP) - Ratings agency Moody's has downgraded Turkey's credit rating deeper into "junk" status and slapped a "negative" rating on its outlook.
It's the latest blow to the country whose currency, the lira, has taken a battering amid concerns about fundamental economic problems and a diplomatic and trade dispute with the United States.
Moody's stripped Turkey of its investment-grade rating in 2016 and Friday's move lowered it one rung further. The agency says the downgrade was triggered by what it described as a further weakening of Turkey's public institutions and a related reduction in the predictability of Turkish policy making.

BEIRUT (AP) — Hezbollah says its leader has met with a delegation from Yemen's Houthi rebels.
The Lebanese militant group said Sunday that Hassan Nasrallah met with a delegation headed by Houthi spokesman Mohamad Abdelsalam to discuss the latest developments in Yemen's civil war.
Hezbollah is believed to train and support the Iran-backed Shiite Houthi rebels, who are at war with a Saudi-led coalition allied with Yemen's internationally recognized government.
Hezbollah, which is also an Iran-allied Shiite group, says the Houthis are fighting a war against Saudi and American imperialism.
Iran supports the Houthis but denies arming them. Saudi Arabia and Iran are bitter regional rivals.

Deputy Minister of Health Yaakov Litzman is a strong proponent of vaccinations for children, and as such, he has instructed ministry officials to look into the possibility of making vaccinations mandatory. This is in light of an increase in the number of parents preferring not to have their children vaccinated, and an increase in the spread of illness as a result.
Ministry officials are probing the legalities of a policy that would condition a child’s acceptance in kindergartens on showing the child’s vaccination record.

Federal authorities investigating whether President Trump’s former personal lawyer and fixer, Michael D. Cohen, committed bank and tax fraud have zeroed in on well over $20 million in loans obtained by taxi businesses that he and his family own, according to people familiar with the matter.
Investigators are also examining whether Mr. Cohen violated campaign finance or other laws by helping to arrange financial deals to secure the silence of women who said they had affairs with Mr. Trump. The inquiry has entered the final stage and prosecutors are considering filing charges by the end of August, two of the people said.

British Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn attended a conference with a convicted Hamas leader who was jailed in Israel for his role in orchestrating a string of terrorist attacks that killed more than 100 people, The Daily Telegraph revealed on Sunday.

In what some are calling “a miracle,” sounds of explosions were heard in Ponevezh Yeshiva before Shabbos ended. A number of lights apparently fell from the ceiling, and B’chasdei Hashem, there were no injuries and damage was relatively light.

President Trump’s attorney Rudy Giuliani on Sunday called former CIA Director John Brennan one of the “biggest frauds” in U.S. history.
“My payment for this investigation and my representation of the President is to get to depose John Brennan, one of the biggest, biggest frauds in the history of this country,” Giuliani said on Fox News’s Sunday Morning Futures.

EpiPen, a life-saving allergy treatment widely criticized for its high price tag, will get generic competition for the first time since the autoinjector was approved more than two decades ago.
The Food and Drug Administration on Thursday cleared Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd.’s generic EpiPen and EpiPen Jr. for sale, several years after the Israeli drugmaker filed for approval. Mylan NV has attempted to thwart competition from Teva, claiming that differences in how the epinephrine-injecting devices work would confuse patients. While Teva’s device isn’t identical to the EpiPen, it will be fully substitutable at the pharmacy, the FDA said.

CNN, along with six other far-left media outlets (the Washington Post, BuzzFeed, Politico, the New York Times, NBC, and the AP) sued for the release of the names and home addresses of all of the Manafort jurors, a move that is both disturbing and almost unprecedented.
Manafort’s fate now sits with the jury, and after two days of deliberations, anti-Trump media outlets like CNN are becoming concerned Manafort could be acquitted, which would be a major blow to Mueller’s credibility and his ability to remove Trump from office — an outcome the establishment media are desperate to orchestrate.
This is not the first time that CNN and other media outlets have requested to publicize names and information of private citizens.

California state legislators passed a resolution Thursday calling on Congress to formally apologize, and for President Donald Trump to join them in acknowledging wrongdoing in separating illegal alien family units at the border.
The California Senate resolution calls on Congress to specifically apologize to the children separated from the adult foreign nationals who illegally brought them across the U.S. border.
It also petitions Congress and President Trump to acknowledge wrongdoing in separating illegal alien adults and children.

Richard Hudson, acting chief of Law Enforcement Operations Directorate with the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), said at a hearing on Thursday that, in recent months, agents have apprehended 41,000 children without parents or guardians and encountered as many as a quarter of a million since 2014 at the U.S. border with Mexico.
“Between Oct. 1, 2017, and July 31, 2018, more than 41,000 UACs have been apprehended by the U.S. Border Patrol,” Hudson said, noting that 7,000 of those were deemed inadmissible at ports of entry.
“Since 2014, when we saw the first surge of UACs, CBP has encountered nearly 250,000 UAC’s along the southwest border,” Hudson said.

A massive quake of magnitude 8.2 struck in the Pacific Ocean close to Fiji and Tonga on Sunday but it was so deep that it was not expected to cause any damage, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) said.
The U.S. Tsunami Warning Center also said the quake was too deep to cause a tsunami.
The quake was 347.7 miles (560 km) below the Earth which would have dampened the shaking at the surface.

President Donald Trump reportedly told Jordan’s King Abdullah II at the White House a few weeks ago that, in the absence of a negotiated solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, Israel will have a prime minister named Muhammad in a few years time.
