Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu on Tuesday morning 2 Av, in Jerusalem, met with Israeli Ambassador to Jordan, Einat Schlein, and with the security agent who was injured in the attack.

The Senate voted Tuesday to move forward with a debate on health care reform, even though it was not clear what measure the body would be considering.
Susan Collins from Maine and Lisa Murkowski from Alaska were the only two Republican senators who voted no on the motion to proceed.
Before the voting began, protesters chanted “Kill the bill” and “Shame! Shame!”
Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., who was diagnosed with brain cancer last week, returned to the Senate floor to vote in favor of moving the debate forward. His appearance was met with a standing ovation.

Former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort met behind closed doors this morning with the Senate intelligence committee, Manafort's spokesman Jason Maloni told CNN, as a separate Senate committee announced it has subpoenaed him.
The Senate intelligence committee is one of several congressional panels investigating Russian interference in the US election last year. Another is the Senate judiciary committee, which has sought testimony from Manafort and President Donald Trump's eldest son Donald Jr.

A U.S. Navy patrol boat fired warning shots Tuesday near an Iranian vessel that came close to it during a tense encounter in the Persian Gulf, an American defense official said.
The incident involving the USS Thunderbolt, a Cyclone-class patrol ship based in Bahrain as part of the U.S. Navy’s 5th Fleet, is the latest confrontation between Iranian vessels and American warships.
The Thunderbolt was taking part in an exercise with American and other coalition vessels when the Iranian patrol boat approached it, the official said. The Iranian ship did not respond to radio calls, flares and sirens as it came within 150 yards (137 meters) of the Thunderbolt, forcing the U.S. sailors aboard to fire the warning shots, the official said.

A group of five prominent anti-Israel BDS movement activists were prevented Monday from boarding a flight from Washington, D.C., to Israel’s Ben Gurion Airport.
The anti-Zionist organization Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP) had coordinated the “interfaith delegation” to Israel. When the group attempted to check in for a Lufthansa flight to Tel Aviv at Dulles International Airport, they were informed the Israeli government had ordered they not be allowed to board.

The House is set to vote Tuesday on the penalties that aim to punish Moscow for its meddling in the presidential election and military aggression in Ukraine and Syria. Curtis Sliwa, the popular talk show host and founder of the Guardian Angel, was arrested on Tuesday morning outside Gracie Mansion in Manhattan.
The incident was apparently filmed by someone working for Sliwa, and loaded to his YouTube Channel moments later.
Sliwa was attempting to serve Mayor Bill de Blasio a lawsuit when he was arrested by NYPD officers.

Mahwah, NJ - More than 200 Mahwah residents packed a picnic pavilion on Monday night at a local township park to formulate a plan for dealing with components of an eruv that has sprung up in recent days in the northernmost reaches of Mahwah.

A U.S. Army soldier based in Hawaii pleaded not guilty Monday to charges of attempting to support the Islamic State group.
Sgt. 1st Class Ikaika Kang was arraigned in federal court in Honolulu after a grand jury indicted him last week on four counts of attempting to provide material support to the group.
The indictment and an FBI affidavit filed previously allege that Kang met with undercover agents he believed were part of the Islamic State group. He allegedly provided them with classified military information, a drone, military equipment and training in combat fighting.
Kang may suffer from service-related mental health issues that the government was aware of but neglected to treat, his defense attorney, Birney Bervar has said.
