Lachish district police used intelligence sources and other means to recover four Sifrei Torah that were stolen a month ago from an Ashkelon shul. The suspect in the case is a 26-year-old resident of the city who has been arraigned.
Analyzing forensics from the scene of the stolen Sifrei Torah, and intelligence information, led police to the apprehension of the suspect. The thief also made off with kupot tzedaka and other shul property.
Police arrived at the suspect’s home with a search warrant and they found four parchments from Sifrei Torah wrapped in sheets and hidden under beds.

As President Donald Trump marks 100 days in office, he is vowing to keep his campaign promise to build a wall along the border with Mexico.

8-month old baby found to have swallowed antenna from a remote control car.
An 8-month old baby from the upper Galilee was taken to the emergency room in Ziv Hospital in Tzfat after the child swallowed part of a toy.
Using x-ray images of the boy, doctors at Ziv Hospital found the antenna of a remote control car stuck in the child’s throat.
The boy’s parents told hospital officials that their son had been playing with the car, and that the remote control had apparently broken apart. The child then placed part of the broken toy in his mouth. Despite repeated efforts to retrieve the broken pieces from the child’s mouth, the parents were unable to extract the antenna. After their failed attempts to remove the antenna, the boy’s parents took him to Ziv Hospital.

President Trump reportedly set to visit Jewish state on May 22nd. Report claims Trump will recognize all of Jerusalem as capital of Israel.
President Donald Trump is reportedly planning to visit Israel on May 22nd, his first trip to the Jewish state.
According to a report Thursday afternoon by a Walla News correspondent, the president is planning a one-night stay in Israel, returning to the US on May 23rd.
An Israeli source told Walla that President Trump would visit the Yad Vashem Holocaust museum during the May visit.
The White House has yet to confirm the report.
If verified, the president’s trip would come exactly one week after US Ambassador to Israel David Friedman arrives in Israel and is formally received by Israel’s president.

An Israeli Air Force (IAF) strike last month destroyed approximately 100 Syrian missiles, many of which were believed to be headed to the Lebanese terrorist organization Hezbollah, a senior Israeli officer said Tuesday.
While the existence of March’s Israeli strike was already known, multiple Israeli media outlets’ publication of the officer’s comments marked the first details to emerge about the strike’s impact on Syria. The officer did not elaborate on the type of missiles destroyed.
The Israeli strike had prompted the Syrian regime to fire a missile on IAF planes, causing Israel to activate the Arrow long-range missile defense system to intercept a Syrian missile, marking the system’s first operational use in its 17 years of existence.

Israeli archaeologists announced Wednesday the discovery of a 1,500-year-old mother-of-pearl tablet etched with a menorah in the ancient town of Caesarea.
According to Israel Antiques Authority archaeologist Peter Gendelman, the tablet, dating back to the late Roman-Byzantine period of the 4th or 5th centuries A.D., “points to clear Jewish presence at Caesarea during this period.”
Archaeologists speculate that the pearl menorah tablet was likely part of a structure used to hold a Torah scroll. The slab was uncovered near the temple devoted to Augustus Caesar, constructed by King Herod in the 1st century B.C.

A Palestinian terrorist who murdered a British student in Jerusalem in mid-April will receive a stipend of approximately $1,000 per month from the Palestinian Authority (PA).
The terrorist, 57-year-old Jamil Tamimi, murdered 21-year-old British woman Hannah Bladon, who was riding Jerusalem’s light rail, on the Christian holiday of Good Friday April 14.
“According to PA law, everyone who is imprisoned for ‘resisting the occupation’ receives a PA salary,” said Itamar Marcus, founder and director of Palestinian Media Watch, the Daily Mail reported.

Two U.S. military service members were killed in action Wednesday night in an anti-ISIS operation in Achin District of Nangarhar province in eastern Afghanistan, according to Pentagon spokesman Capt. Jeff Davis.
Their identities, service, and unit affiliations are being withheld pending next of kin notification.
This is the same district in Afghanistan where an American soldier was killed earlier this month and where the massive ordnance air blast (MOAB) bomb was dropped on April 14.

Two groups have been connected to Holocaust denial literature and fliers calling for the murder of Jews found at five Australian universities in recent weeks, The Australian reported on Tuesday.

Syrian state media blamed Israel on Thursday for an early morning missile attack on a military installation near Damascus International Airport that shook the capital with the force of the blasts.
Israeli Minister of Intelligence Yisrael Katz would not comment directly on the incident but said any similar strike would be in line with established policy to interrupt the transfer of weapons to Hezbollah from Iran and Syria.
