The Senate's top Democrat will oppose Judge Neil Gorsuch's confirmation to the Supreme Court and urged his Democratic colleagues to block the nomination.
Sen. Chuck Schumer of New York called on Senate Democrats to block the confirmation by using a filibuster, which takes 60 votes to overcome. The Senate minority leader's decision sets up a quandary for Republicans. The party will need either to win eight Democratic votes or change the rules to eliminate the 60-vote threshold.

Prime Minister condemns London attack, says Israelis were first to face this type of terrorism.
Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu strongly condemned the deadly terror attack in London on Wednesday, which took place within the security parameter of the British parliament.
In a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office Thursday afternoon, Netanyahu sent his condolences to the families of the three victims murdered in the combination ramming and stabbing attack.
The Prime Minister also wished the 40 wounded a speedy recovery.
Netanyahu noted the similarities between Wednesday’s attack and the wave of lone-wolf terror attacks combining stabbings with ramming attacks Israel faced from late 2015 through the first half of 2016.

Italian archaeologists discover part of the so-called Campus Iudeorum, the long-lost cemetery used by Rome’s medieval Jewish community.
JTA - Italian archaeologists have discovered part of the so-called Campus Iudeorum, the long-lost cemetery used by Rome’s medieval Jewish community.
The discovery of 38 graves, with skeletal remains intact, was announced at a news conference this week at The National Roman Museum. A stone with part of a Hebrew inscription also was found.
The site, whose graves date from the 14th century to the early 17th century, was uncovered during excavations carried out during the restructuring of the Palazzo Leonori as the new headquarters of an insurance company.

A 28-year-old white man from Baltimore accused of stabbing a 66-year-old black man to death traveled by bus to New York City to the “media capital of the world” to make the biggest splash he could, police officials said.
James Harris Jackson turned himself in at a Times Square police station Wednesday morning and was arrested on a charge of murder, two days after his victim, Timothy Caughman, staggered into a police precinct bleeding to death, said Assistant Chief William Aubrey. Caughman had been picking through trash in Midtown on Monday when he encountered Jackson, who’d been wandering the streets in a long overcoat concealing a 26-inch mini-sword, police said. Assured of support from majority Republicans, Gorsuch received glowing GOP reviews but complaints from frustrated Democrats that he concealed his views from the American public. Gorsuch, a federal appeals court judge in Denver, refused repeated attempts to get him to talk about key legal and political issues of the day. But he did tell Sen. Belgian police arrest man of North African descent carrying shotgun and knives, speeding towards crowded shopping area.
A driver speeding towards a crowded Antwerp shopping area and carrying weapons was arrested by Belgian police on Thursday, on suspicion he planned to attack pedestrians one day after a similar attack in London left three dead.
The suspect, a 39-year old French citizen of North African descent, reportedly drove at high speed towards the De Meir pedestrian mall in the coastal city, narrowly missing pedestrians who were forced to jump out of the way.

Israeli teen arrested over JCC bomb threats wanted for years by Israeli police, allegedly assaulted female officer during arrest.
A 19-year old man with dual US-Israeli citizenship was arrested for allegedly making a series of threats to Jewish institutions in the US and Europe. The suspect has a long record of criminal behavior, authorities in Israel said Thursday.
The man, whose identity has not yet been released for publication, was suspected by police of involvement in a string of similar threats targeting institutions in Israel going back two and a half years.
A district court in Rishon Letzion extended the suspect’s arrested by one week at a hearing Thursday afternoon.

The man behind the deadly rampage that left 3 people dead, including a police officer, outside of London’s Parliament building was identified as 52-year-old Khalid Masood.
Masood, aged 52, was born in Kent and detectives believe he was most recently living in the West Midlands. Masood was also known by a number of aliases.
Met Police say that Masood was not the subject of any current investigations and there was no prior intelligence about his intent to mount a terrorist attack.
However, he was known to police and has a range of previous convictions for assaults, including GBH, possession of offensive weapons and public order offences.
His first conviction was in November 1983 for criminal damage and his last conviction was in December 2003 for possession of a knife.

U.S. Treasury Department agents have recently obtained information about offshore financial transactions involving President Donald Trump’s former campaign chairman, Paul Manafort, as part of a federal anti-corruption probe into his work in Eastern Europe, The Associated Press has learned.

An American was one of the victims in the London terror attack. The Utah man was visiting London when he was killed in the terror attack near the British Parliament. His wife is seriously injured.
Kurt Cochran, from Utah, died in the attack and his wife Melissa was critically hurt, their family has said.
