More than 80 million people tuned in to see Clinton and Trump square off, making it the most-watched debate in American history. More than 80 million people tuned in on Monday night to see the first presidential debatebetween Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, making it the most-watched debate in American history. While the final numbers are still being tallied by Nielsen, the debate averaged a total of 80.9 million viewers across 12 of the channels that carried it live, according to CNN. Nielsen traditionally measures viewers who watch via traditional TV at home, meaning people who watched the debate at parties, bars, restaurants, and offices were not counted. The 80.9 million viewer total also does not include PBS and C-SPAN, nor does it include the millions...
The snap analyses of Monday night’s debate came with a hard caveat. Donald Trump has broken the political media’s antenna, again and again. Gaffes that would have torpedoed other candidates and other campaigns did not slow him down. Similar gaffes, like Trump’s comment about “the Second Amendment people” stopping Hillary Clinton from swinging the Supreme Court and his later comment that the Secret Service should stop protecting her, got wildly different voter reactions. That’s led to uncertainty about what would normally be a clear, clean storyline – that Trump lost the debate. The efforts of Trump’s online army to counter-spin this have been limited to trending the hashtag #TrumpWon, as TV networks and almost all analysts say other...

A driver who was pulled over for speeding after finding out his sister was killed, said he is grateful for the police officer who stopped him, after the officer drove him 100 miles to be with his family.  Mark E Ross posted to Facebook that his sister was killed in a car accident, and he instantly got in the car to be with his family. “Of course we were speeding, trying to get back to Detroit,” he wrote. “And we got pulled over in Ohio.” Ross said he knew once he was pulled over that he was going to have to go to jail due to a petty warrant. “I explained to the officer that my sister had died and that I needed to get to my mother ASAP,” Ross wrote on Facebook. “I broke down crying and he saw the sincerity in m...

Rudy Giuliani Says Stop And Frisk Is Perfectly Constitutional
Question: “I find it extremely difficult not to eat until the completion of Rosh Hashanah davening, and I understand that many Yeshivos make kiddush before blowing shofar. May I introduce this practice in my shul?” Answer: Before we discuss whether one may eat before hearing the shofar blowing, we must first analyze the issue of eating before performing any other mitzvah. Regarding someone who returns home after a long day at work, the Gemara states: Our Sages built a fence to protect their words, so that a person should not return from the field in the evening and say, ‘I’ll eat a little, drink a little, sleep a little, and then recite kerias shma and pray,’ because we are concerned that sleep will overtake him, resulting in his sleeping the entire night ...

The Israeli leader says the days when the United Nations "automatically votes against Israel" are numbered. Benjamin Netanyahu says Tuesday his recent trip to the U.N. highlighted an "unprecedented blooming" of Israeli international relations. He says this shift will end the absurdity of the "double standard" against Israel. Israel is often vastly outnumbered at the U.N. and claims to be singled out by nations seeking to curry favor with its Arab adversaries. Netanyahu says Israel's strengthening ties with African nations is the key to its improved standing. The prime minister recently...read more at ABC News
An explosion at a home in the New York City borough of the Bronx on Tuesday killed a battalion chief, the city's highest ranking fire official to die in the line of duty since the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks, officials said. Michael Fahy, a 17-year veteran of the fire department, died after he was struck in the head by building debris sent flying to the street, Fire Department Commissioner Daniel Nigro told reporters at New York-Presbyterian/Allen Hospital. "We lost a hero today and our members are all saddened," said Nigro, who was visibly emotional. "He was a star, a brave man." New York Mayor Bill de Blasio said Fahy, whose father was a fire battalion chief with the city and a contemporary of Nigro's, leaves behind three children, ages 6, 8 and 11. The Uniformed Fi...
New York - You never know who you are going to meet walking down the streets of New York City and yesterday, a lesson that Jonathan Pollard learned on Monday as he bumped into Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat. Arutz Sheva reported that the two men happened upon each other as Pollard and his wife Ester were enjoying the fall weather at an outdoor coffee ship in Manhattan located near a charitable event that Barkat was to be attending.  It was the first time that Pollard, who was released from prison 322 days ago, has met with any Israeli officials, and the two man chatted briefly. The Jerusalem municipality released a statement saying that Barkat was “excited” to meet with Pollard, noting that he had awarded Pollard an “Honorary Citizen of Jerusalem” medal....
NRGbinary helped punters bet on currency movements. When they lost their money, they discovered the business was hiding in the gaps between regulators. RAMAT GAN, Israel – In early 2013, a young Israeli businessman registered a web domain in London for a company called NRGbinary.com. The online options trading website offered clients the opportunity to make large amounts of money from simple bets on the movement of financial markets, stocks and commodities.  But there were a few peculiarities to the company. While it was initially registered in Britain, NRGbinary was run from Israel and sold its products to clients in the Middle East, Canada and South Africa. Within months it had shifted its registration to Cyprus and then to the Seychelles. Within two ...
Police and security forces deployed along main Jerusalem roads and checkpoints are being set. Police forces were deploying in the Jerusalem district due to an intelligence alert. Security forces took stations throughout the main roads and thoroughfares and checkpoints were set. After several hours of heightened alert, police released a statement saying the alert had been lifted and the checkpoints removed. It should be noted that over the past two weeks, since the end of the Muslim Eid al-Adha ("Sacrifice Feast") holiday, the security situation has significantly worsened, especially in the Jerusalem, Hevron, and Gush Etzion areas. In a series of stabbing attacks, several IDF soldiers and policemen have been wounded, including a policewoman who was seriously wounded near Herod...

Donald Trump blamed the moderator, a bad microphone and anyone but himself Tuesday after he was forced onto the defense by Hillary Clinton's cascade of attacks about his taxes, honesty and character in the first presidential debate. Trump tried aggressively to pin America's problems on Clinton at Monday night's debate. But Clinton, showing her intensive preparations, went after him as hard or harder, including sharp criticism of his business practices and crude comments about women. She also attacked his false assertions about President Barack Obama's birthplace, calling it part of a pattern of "racist behavior." And she repeatedly criticized Trump for breaking tradition by refusing to release his tax returns, declaring, "There's something he's hid...
A delegation of the World Jewish Congress (WJC) led by its president, Ronald S. Lauder, was received by Pope Francis at the Vatican on Monday evening. In his address, the pope spoke about the challenge to promote peace in the world and about the refugee crisis. Francis said: “Europe often forgets that it has been enriched by migrants. Europe is closing itself up. Europe is lacking creativity. Europe has a falling birth rate, and problems of high unemployment.”  The pope added: “We need to reflect on integration, which is important. The people who committed the terrorist attacks in Belgium were not properly integrated.” He also reiterated what he had told Lauder at a previous meeting, that a good Christian could not be an anti-Semite.  The Cathol...
Republican White House candidate Donald Trump stole the social media spotlight during Monday night's U.S. presidential debate on at least one count - what Twitter users branded his #Trumpsniffle. The wealthy businessman sniffed repeatedly as he faced off against Democratic rival Hillary Clinton in their first debate, giving rise to the hashtag and a surge of interest on social media what might be causing his nose to run. Parody accounts, Donald's Sinuses (@TrumpsSinuses) and Trump sniff (@TrumpSniff), gained a large following. Trump, 70, told Fox News on Tuesday morning he did not have a cold. "No, no sniffles, no," he said. "No cold." He complained he had a faulty microphone and joked that maybe it was picking up breathing. Several tweeters seized on the sniff...
Hillary Clinton won the first presidential debate last night, according to a wide-variety of polls taken immediately afterward. Nate Silver at FiveThirtyEight has a good breakdown of these instant polls. First, there’s a CNN poll, which has 62% of voters saying Clinton won versus 27% saying Trump. Public Policy Polling might have a more reliable result, with 52% of voters saying Clinton versus 40% saying Trump. Even a Breitbart poll had Clinton winning, though to significantly smaller numbers, 48% to 43%. There were other signs that Clinton won as well, according to Josh Barro at Business Insider. Betting markets increased her odds of winning from 69% before the debate to 73% afterward. CBS and CNN focus groups of undecided voters both indicated she won. Perhaps most intere...
