New York - Brooklyn District Attorney Ken Thompson today announced that a 29-year-old Brooklyn man has been convicted for his participation in the kidnapping and murder of Menachem Stark, 39, on January 2, 2014.
District Attorney Thompson said, “This defendant waited for Menachem Stark outside of his office and forcibly kidnapped him, killing him in the process. As a result, his wife and seven children were robbed of their husband and father. The jury has now held him accountable for his actions.”
The District Attorney identified the defendant as Kendel Felix, 29, of Crown Heights, Brooklyn. He was convicted of first-degree kidnapping and second-degree murder following a jury trial before Brooklyn Supreme Court Justice Alexander Jeong. He faces up to 25 years to life...

Rav Shmuel Auerbach, head of the Peleg Yerushalmi group which opposes yeshiva students even appearing at IDF induction centers to receive exemptions, instructed parents to remove their children from chadorim and schools sympathetic to the group and place them in the Peleg’s own institutions due to the interference of the Education Ministry in chareidi schools. Rav Shmuel warned of the importance “to guard the container of pure oil passed down from generation to generation.”
Unlike most chareidi institutions, Peleg takes no funds from the government.
Rav Aharon Teitelbaum of Satmar, who also opposes Israeli government funding of schools, praised Peleg’s policy at a recent tish.

The gunman who shot and wounded nine people this morning in Houston was wearing Nazi paraphernalia, two law-enforcement sources told KPRC2. Officers responded to the scene just around 6 a.m., where the shooter opened fire on police, “wearing what appeared to be an antique German uniform with Swastikas on it.”
The gunman was found dead shortly after the police returned fire and several weapons have been found inside his vehicle, according to local police. Investigators who inspected the shooter’s apartment reportedly found additional Nazi paraphernalia inside. Interim Houston Police Chief Martha Montalvo stated that she is not ready to say whether the shooting was related to terrorism. Read more at KPRC2.

BROOKLYN - Kendel Felix has been found guilty of kidnapping and second-degree murder in the kidnapping and murder of Menachem Stark, Hy”d, on Jan. 2-3, 2014. He was not found guilty of attempted robbery.
Felix will be sentenced by Judge Alexander Jeong October 19. He faces a maximum of 25 years to life in prison for each count.

Lawmakers were skeptical last week when Mylan chief executive Heather Bresch said that the company made only $100 in profit for a two-pack of EpiPens. During a House hearing, Bresch repeatedly referred to a poster board showing how little of the $608 list price trickled back to the company.
The incredulity was warranted: The profits Bresch told Congress about were calculated after factoring in the 37.5 percent U.S. tax rate, according to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission first reported by the Wall Street Journal. That tax rate is more than five times the overall tax rate the company actually paid last year and much higher than its actual U.S. tax rate, which tax specialists have pegged at close to zero.

Savage went on the air on Monday – just hours before the highly anticipated Presidential Debate – and ranted against WABC for throwing him off the air. Savage says he was given no advance warning and it came as a shocking surprise.
Listeners to Savage know that a good part of his callers are from the Tri-State Area where he is the number one listened to talk show on the station.

NEW YORK (AP) — Everyone’s aware of the stakes for Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump during the first presidential debate, but there’s a third person in the equation who faces a different pressure: Lester Holt.
The NBC News veteran is moderating his first general election debate, making him solely responsible for the questions asked each candidate and for steering the conversation. His performance will be closely watched, particularly in light of a dispute over the extent to which he should call politicians out for making untrue statements.
Holt, 57, has kept quiet about his preparations. The NBC “Nightly News” anchor took over his job last year after predecessor Brian Williams was found to have lied about his role in news stories.

JERUSALEM, Sept 26 (Reuters) - Backers of Israel's massive Leviathan natural gas field signed a $10 billion deal on Monday to supply 1.6 trillion feet (tcf) of gas to Jordan's National Electric Power Company.
The deal marks a significant step forward in Israel's efforts to exploit its offshore gas reserves, although it is still looking for a partnership with Egypt or Turkey, or both, which would give it far more export volume and the possibility of linking up with markets in Europe.

Holocaust survivor Joseph Harmatz, who led the most daring attempt by Jews seeking revenge against their former Nazi tormentors, has died. He was 91.
His son, Ronel Harmatz, confirmed the death Monday.
Harmatz was one of the few remaining Jewish "Avengers" who carried out a mass poisoning of former SS officers in an American prisoner-of-war camp in 1946 that sickened more than 2,200 Germans, but caused no known deaths. Still, the message echoed into a rallying cry for the newborn state of Israel — that the days when attacks on Jews went unanswered were over.

Democrat Hillary Clinton has pulled ahead of Republican rival Donald Trump in the traditional battleground state of Florida, strengthening her position in the race for the White House, the Reuters/Ipsos States of the Nation project showed ahead of the pair's first presidential debate on Monday night.
If the election were held on Monday, Clinton would lead Trump in the Electoral College by 259 to 191, with an 88 percent chance of reaching the 270 needed to win, according to the project's results.

NEW YORK — More than 100 U.S. police departments and law enforcement agencies will receive $20 million to help buy body cameras, the U.S. Justice Department said today, in a bid to improve trust between officers and the public.
Demand for body cameras has risen amid a series of shootings of black men, many of them unarmed, by police, and last year the Obama administration unveiled a $20 million grant program.
Today the Justice Department announced how that money would be allocated. Funding was awarded to 106 state, city and tribal law enforcement agencies for equipment, training and evaluation.
The agencies are in 32 states and Puerto Rico, the department said in a statement. A department spokesman did not immediately have a list of the agencies.

The question we need to ask is: Should we really be having our children raise funds for their Yeshiva or for any other organization for that matter?The whole concept raises no less than five questions. All of them would seem to be important questions. Let’s look at the issues one by one.

Russia has announced a willingness to act as moderator in resumed diplomatic talks between Israel and the PA (Palestinian Authority). Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov announced on Friday, 20 Elul, that his country is willing to step in and play this major role towards jumpstarting negotiations between Israel and the PA.
According to the Sputnik News Agency report, Moscow expresses support for any action that will bring the sides closer together and advance peace efforts. The senior minister reportedly made his remarks from NYC while attending the United Nations General Assembly.
