TEHRAN, Iran
Iranian banks have begun issuing credit cards for the first time in decades, local media reported on Monday.
The report by several newspapers, including the daily Donya-e-Eqtesad or World of Economy in Farsi, said the cards will be for domestic use only and do not involve any sort of partnership with a major international credit card company.
The cards are usable for purchasing products and services from Iranian online shops as well. The move is aimed at helping to boost Iran's sanctions-damaged economy.
The credit limits and fee percentages will be fixed by Iran's Central Bank, although individual banks will be responsible for determining if a customer qualifies to receive a card.

HOUSTON -- There are unconfirmed reports that a suspected shooter is down after several people were presumed shot in southwest Houston.
An HPD bomb squad has been dispatched to the scene which is still considered active after a suspicious vehicle was found near the scene.
Houston police are asking people to avoid the area surrounding Weslayan at Bissonnet. A shelter-in-place was ordered for the West University area.At around 6:30 this morning, HFD scanners reported a suspect was at a strip center firing upon vehicles. Thousands pay their last respects to rabbi Joseph Haim Sitruk. Hundreds of French Jews arrive for funeral.
The former Chief Rabbi of France, Rabbi Joseph Haim Sitruk, was brought to his final resting place Monday morning in Jerusalem.
After a service in France yesterday evening, Rabbi Sitruk’s remains were flown to Israel early Monday morning.
Born in Tunis, Rabbi Sitruk immigrated with his family to France, where he later served as Chief Rabbi of Strasbourg and Marseille. From 1987 to 2008, Rabbi Sitruk served as Chief Rabbi of France, a position he held even after suffering a stroke in 2001.
On Sunday Rabbi Sitruk passed away at the age of 71, leaving behind his wife and nine children.

A new poll indicates Governor Larry Hogan's approval rating is still high.
The Goucher College poll of 668 Maryland residents finds that 70% either strongly approve, or approve of the job Governor Hogan is doing.
The poll found that 12% either disapprove, or strongly disapprove of Hogan.
A Goucher Poll in February found Hogan with a 63% approval rating.
Earlier this month, an OpinionWorks poll gave Hogan a 71% approval rating.
Goucher Poll Director Mileah Kromer told WBAL NewsRadio 1090 that Hogan remains popular among Democrats, whose voters outnumber Republicans by a 2-to-1 margin.

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump told Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu that if elected president, he would recognize Jerusalem as the “undivided capital” of Israel, ending a long-standing US policy which has kept the American embassy in Tel Aviv.

Baltimore, MD - Sept. 25, 2016 - Shomrim received a call today about a suspicious vehicle at the corner of Marnat and Hatton. Units responded, located the vehicle, and observed two people sleeping inside.
Our units kept eyes on the vehicle while notifying 911. Police responded and took both individuals into custody.
Shomrim was later informed that these individuals are possibly connected to some armed robberies on Liberty Road in the Pikesville area.

BEERSHEBA, Israel – A senior Israeli military official says a massive underground barrier being built along the Gaza border to defend against Hamas tunnels should be completed in a matter of months.
The Southern Command official said Sunday that the structure will include a wall deep below the ground as well as flooding parts of the roughly 60-kilometer (40-mile) border.

PARIS – Joseph Sitruk, a former grand rabbi of France for more than two decades who oversaw a growth in synagogues and Jewish schools, has died after a long illness. He was 71.
President Francois Hollande's office announced Sitruk's death. In a statement Sunday, Hollande praised Sitruk as a "defender of secularism" who left an indelible legacy for French Judaism. Sitruk was hailed as "a tireless fighter against racism and anti-Semitism" by Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve, who oversees religious affairs.

Jerusalem (CNN) In Jerusalem's largest cemetery the deceased have a need that the living cannot fulfill: more space.
The Givat Shaul cemetery, which sprawls across a hilltop on the northwestern edge of the city, contains more than 200,000 burial spots, and nearly every one is full, marked with a carved headstone and adorned with flowers and memorial candles.
Burial spots cover nearly every acre of the cemetery, separated only by access roads and walkways. The graves form a neatly organized pattern across the entire area.
