When he opened the envelope, he was confused to find bills totaling ₪ 1500 and a brief note that read: “Three years ago, I banged into your car. Pollard says health improved, does not believe he will be allowed to visit Israel.
Jonathan Pollard recently expressed pessimism regarding his chances of coming home to Israel.
In an exclusive interview with Channel 1's Amir Bar-Shalom, Pollard said his health had improved greatly since his release.
In answer to the question of whether the Israeli government had abandoned him, Pollard replied, "The nation is with me."
He also said that it would take a miracle for the American government to agree to lower their restrictions on his activities.

(AFP). Pulitzer prize-winning historian Saul Friedlander, a world authority on the Holocaust, said Friday he would leave the United States if Donald Trump was elected president.
The 83-year-old Israeli-American writer, who escaped the Nazis by being hidden in a Catholic boarding school in France, described Trump as a “dangerous crazy”.
He said the controversial Republican candidate could win November’s election because of Hillary Clinton’s “tendency to lie and to hide things”.
“One cannot exclude Donald Trump winning even though he is a dangerous crazy,” he told AFP.

As we approach Rosh Hashono, we approach the Yom Hadin. We have to take serious inventory about what our yiddishkeit means to us, what Torah means to us, and how are we measuring up to what the Torah demands of us.
The brochos and klolos of Mishna Torah begin with an introduction. There was a first bris made between Klal Yisroel and Hashem on Har Sinai, and a second bris is being made in Arvos Moav with the new generation of the Jewish People 40 years later who will be entering into Eretz Yisroel. Terrorist neutralized after attempting to carry out stabbing attack at Elias junction.
On Friday afternoon, a 14-year-old Muslim terrorist attempted to carry out a stabbing attack at Elias Junction, near Kiryat Arba.
Nobody was hurt, and the terrorist was successfully neutralized.

A new Israeli spy satellite is operational and taking high-quality pictures after suffering technical difficulties during its launch earlier this month, defense officials said Thursday.
Amnon Harari, director of the Defense Ministry’s space administration, said satellite operators downloaded the first images from the Ofek 11 satellite at about 5:10 p.m. Thursday.
“The images are splendid, very good,” he told reporters.
After the satellite was launched on Sept. 13, officials said it was not acting as expected. Harari said that since then technical teams have been busy stabilizing the satellite and its systems.

The Heichal Tischen of Seret-Vishnitz in Haifa has been placed ‘off limits’ by an order issued by Haifa City Hall. Needless to say with Rosh Hashanah days away, this is cause for significant alarm as hundreds of chassidim usually join the rebbe for Rosh Hashanah.
It is explained the order was given at the behest of the city engineer following an on-site inspection. He claims that the chassidus did not comply with requests that were made, ignored in the last inspection on erev Pesach and nothing was done since. Hence, the decision was made to act and not wait until a catastrophe occurs. As a result of the city order, the building may not be used for anything until it is brought up to code.

How long do you think you’ll live? Sorry to be so blunt, but don’t we all think that we’ll always some “more time”? I am thinking about many people I have known – some of them very close, some just acquaintances, some very young, some old – who, over the past year, have become very sick or who have died. When these people are young or have never been sick, it is a terrible shock to hear the news – how can this be!? Didn’t they have more time!? I didn’t even have a chance to say goodbye, or tell them what a special person they were!
That’s because we are complacent and think we have more time. But time is a precious commodity, and we tend not to cherish it as much as we should. I am always reminded of a mussar thought R&rsqu...

It’s hard to describe the feeling of Shabbos here. There is a peace, a serenity that is palpable. People coming and going from shule. The sounds of kiddush or zemiros from open apartment windows. The streets literally filled with children playing jump rope. Or enjoying the ability to zoom down hilly streets on their bimba (Israeli version of a children’s riding toy) without a car in sight. But like so many experiences in life, Shabbos in Yerushalayim cannot be properly experienced without first experiencing Eruv Shabbos in Yerushalayim.
I am still very new to Shabbos preparations in Israel. We are still in our temporary rental apartment while our own apartment is being renovated. THAT is, of course, a whole series of articles in itself – our shiputzim (renovations). But ...

The massive security breakdown disclosed Thursday poses new headaches for Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer as she scrambles to close a $4.8 billion sale to Verizon Communication.
The breach Thursday dates back to late 2014, raising questions about the checks and balances within Yahoo — a fallen internet star that has been laying off staff to counter a steep drop in revenue during the past eight years.
