Annapolis, MD - July 4, 2025 - Gov. Wes Moore made the rounds recently on cable news outlets talking about the One Big Beautiful Bill before the final votes were taken in Washington, and he took some shots at some of the details included.
During appearances on MSNBC and CNBC in recent days, Gov. Moore called the spending plan bad for families and “an assault on the American people.”
“This bill can be defined one way: greed. That is what it is,” he said on MSNBC. “Maryland, nor any other state has the resources in our state to be able to fill the hole that the federal government is now creating.”
Taking issue with several aspects, specifically cuts to SNAP and Medicaid benefits, Gov. Moore said states won’t be able to fill the gaps.

Washington, D.C. - July 3, 2025 - Congress has approved the first national school voucher plan, which will help all but the wealthiest families pay for private school and other educational expenses.
The voucher plan, passed on Thursday as part of Republicans’ all-encompassing domestic policy bill, now heads to the desk of President Trump, who is expected to sign it into law.

Baltimore, MD - July 3, 2025 - To protect sanitation workers from the dangers of extreme summer heat, the Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) will begin trash and recycling collections one hour earlier — starting at 5:00 a.m. — beginning Tuesday, July 8. This seasonal adjustment will run through Tuesday, September 30, 2025.
Trash and recycling collection days will not change. However, residents must place their trash and recycling out by 5:00 a.m. on their regularly scheduled collection day to avoid missed pickups.

They were a group of kind, committed women—my mother among them—who took care of everything from kiddush prep to event logistics. Donning aprons when needed, they made our synagogue feel like an extension of home.
