Saudi Arabia's defense minister delivered a blunt message to Iranian officials in Tehran last month: take President Donald Trump's offer to negotiate a nuclear agreement seriously because it presents a way to avoid the risk of war with Israel.
Alarmed at the prospect of further instability in the region, Saudi Arabia's 89-year-old King Salman bin Abdulaziz dispatched his son, Prince Khalid bin Salman, with the warning destined for Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, according to two Gulf sources close to government circles and two Iranian officials.
Present at the closed-door meeting in Tehran, which took place on April 17 in the presidential compound, were Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, armed forces Chief of Staff Mohammad Bagheri, and Forei...
A Yonkers man received a six-year prison sentence and three years of supervised release on Thursday for attacking a Jewish barber, News 12 Westchester reported.
Ahmed al Jabali, 34, was sentenced by Judge James McCarty at Westchester County Court in White Plains.
Judge McCarty condemned al Jabali's actions, stating, "You admitted to and committed a reprehensible act, which hurt another person."
The victim, 50-year-old Jewish barber Slava Shushakov, was attacked with scissors in his Yonkers Avenue barbershop last August. Police reported that al Jabali used expletives and expressed a desire to kill the victim during the assault, which left Shushakov with multiple cuts.
Al Jabali pleaded guilty in April to second-degree assault as a hate crime and expres...

I recently shared in an especially uplifting celebration of a young man who became a Bar Mitzva. His parents, who hail from the former Soviet Union, after having arrived in America, found their path back to full observance.
The father spoke at the Bar Mitzva and offered the following words.
Thank you all for joining this remarkable Simcha!
As you know, we have come from a country that had no Yiddishkeit, no Torah, and denied the existence of Hashem.
When we came to America, we never dreamed about learning Torah, being Shomrei Mitzvos, and living as proud Yidden.
Our families have not celebrated Bar Mitzvas for more than two generations!
You cannot imagine how thrilled we are that we have merited to raise our son to be a Bar Mitzvah, doing Mitzvos and learning Torah.
We are overwh...
Baltimore, MD – May 29, 2025 – A Flood Watch has been issued for Baltimore starting Friday evening through late Friday night, as forecasters expect heavy rain to move through the area.
According to the National Weather Service, a slow-moving storm system could bring 2 to 3 inches of rain, with some spots seeing up to 4 inches. With the ground already saturated from previous storms, there's a real risk of flash flooding, especially in low-lying or poorly drained areas.
Forecasters say we could see multiple rounds of rain and thunderstorms Friday night, and if storms stall over one area, that’s when flooding could become dangerous. Streets, creeks, and small streams could overflow quickly.

A federal appeals court on Thursday allowed President Donald Trump to continue collecting tariffs under an emergency powers law for now, as his administration appeals an order striking down the bulk of his signature set of economic policies.
The Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit granted an emergency motion from the Trump administration arguing that a halt is “critical for the country’s national security.”
The appeals court temporarily halted the order from a federal trade court issued a day before.
Trump is facing several lawsuits arguing Trump’s “Liberation Day” tariffs exceeded his authority and left the country’s trade policy dependent on his whims.
Hamas said on Thursday that it does not accept the outline for US envoy Steve Witkoff's ceasefire and hostage deal proposal at face value, and has demanded certain changes, according to sources familiar with the details.
A source familiar with the details told The Jerusalem Post that Hamas feels deceived by the US administration, believing it has been "screwed over" with a pro-Israel proposal that does not guarantee an end to the war.
The proposal also requires all hostages to be returned to Israel within a week, leaving Hamas without further leverage.
A source close to Hamas told Walla that the group claimed the new proposal is more biased in favor of Israel than previous proposals and that Witkoff accepted most of the demands presented by R...
Tel Aviv, Israel - May 29, 2025 - Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said during a meeting with family members of bereaved hostages on Thursday that Israel has agreed to the new framework for a deal proposed by US Envoy Steve Witkoff.
However, the Prime Minister expressed doubt regarding Hamas's intentions: "Hamas has yet to respond. We don't believe that Hamas would return the last hostage, and therefore, we continue fighting until Hamas is eliminated, and we will not leave the Gaza Strip until all the hostages are in our hands."
During the meeting, the families asked how it would be determined which deceased hostages would be returned in the deal. They were answered that a decision has not been made yet on the matter, and as far as Israel is concerned, "all deceased hostages h...

This year’s conference centered on Israel’s macroeconomic policy priorities in light of the ongoing war, examining the challenges and necessary reforms facing the country.
A highlight of the event was the presentation of a new IDI study examining the economic implications of ultra-Orthodox (Haredi) integration. Researcher Gabi Gordon revealed that the low workforce participation among Haredi men and lower tax contributions by tho...

Annapolis, MD - May 29, 2025 - A second bond-rating agency has reaffirmed its highest credit rating for Maryland, helping offset a downgrade by a third agency just weeks before a scheduled $1.7 billion bond sale by the state.
The AAA rating from Standard & Poor’s follows a similar rating from Fitch two weeks ago. Standard & Poor’s — one of three firms that Maryland hires to rate its creditworthiness in advance of annual bond sales — issued its rating with a stable outlook for the state, but also with a warning.
“The stable outlook reflects our expectation that the state will make timely adjustments to achieve a structural balance and adequate cash reserves by proactively managing economic and budgetary risks that arise,” the report sa...
