The US military said that an F-18 Super Hornet was lost at sea on Monday after it fell off the aircraft carrier USS Harry Truman.
The warplane was being towed when the crew lost control, one of whom was lightly wounded in the accident. The ship made a sharp maneuver to avoid an attack launched against it by the Houthis in Yemen.
Both the fighter plane and the towing vehicle fell, in possibly the greatest monetary loss caused to the US military by the Houthis since President Donald Trump ordered military operations to target the leaders and infrastructure of the Iran-backed group.
The Houthis said that they launched a drone and missile attack against the ship. An investigation by the US Navy is underway.
Reports of a breakthrough in the hostage-ceasefire deal talks are inaccurate, a source said on Tuesday following a Monday report that said that negotiations were pointing in the opposite direction.
"Israel is continuously and relentlessly working with the Americans and mediators to advance a deal for the release of our hostages, but so far, no agreement has been reached," the source said.
On Monday, Reuters reported, citing two Egyptian security sources, that the ongoing negotiations in Cairo were nearing a "significant breakthrough."
According to the Reuters report, an agreement had been reached regarding a long-term ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
However, the report noted that there are still some points of contention that remain to be bridged.
On Monday, I...
Israel should cancel the banknotes it knows were transferred to the Gaza Strip to disrupt Hamas's cash dominance and target the wealth it has accumulated, Eyal Ofer, an expert on Hamas’s economy in Gaza, told Maariv on Tuesday.
This aligns with Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar's view, after he asked the Governor of the Bank of Israel last week to cancel all 200 shekel bills in order to cripple Hamas's finances.
“Gaza operates as a cash economy,” Ofer explained. “Most commerce in the Strip’s markets, including hundreds of stalls trading humanitarian aid, is conducted in cash, mostly using low-denomination bills of 20 and 50 shekels. These bills pass from hand to hand and wear out so quickly that they often end up torn.&rdq...

Efforts to broker a ceasefire and hostage release agreement between Israel and Hamas in Gaza are reportedly advancing, according to two Egyptian security officials who spoke with Reuters on Monday.
The officials indicated that negotiations underway in Cairo are showing signs of a "significant breakthrough."
They noted that while the parties have reached a general understanding on establishing a lasting ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, several unresolved issues continue to hinder final agreement — notably the future of Hamas' weapons.
Israeli officials claimed the report is inaccurate, telling Kan 11 News that “there is no real progress at this time.”
Meanwhile, Egyptian state-linked broadcaster Al Qahera News TV reported that General Has...
Canadians were projected to keep the Liberal Party in power, entrusting Prime Minister Mark Carney to forge a new course for their struggling economy and stand up to President Trump.
Carney’s Liberals were set to win a fourth term in national elections on Monday, Canadian broadcast networks said. It wasn’t clear whether the Liberals would win a majority of seats or a smaller share that would require them to win support from other parties to govern, the broadcaster said.
Carney, a 60-year-old former head of the Bank of Canada and the Bank of England, became prime minister after Justin Trudeau stepped down in January. His expected victory is a remarkable one for a party headed for defeat at the start of this year. The Conservatives, led by P...

That is a palpable danger to Israel and the free world.

Speaking to Arutz Sheva - Israel National News at the JNS Conference held at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in Jerusalem, Malcolm Hoenlein, Vice Chair and CEO Emeritus of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, issued stark warnings about the increasing foreign influence fueling antisemitism and anti-Israel sentiment in the United States. He also called for urgent global action to counter Iran’s nuclear threat.

According to Hoenlein, this funding has surged dramatically in recent years, especially during the Biden administration.

Colonel Richard Kemp, former commander of British military forces in Afghanistan, spoke to Arutz Sheva-Israel National News on the sidelines of the JNS International Policy Summit held at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in Jerusalem.
Asked on the current situation in terms of Israel’s war against Hamas, Col. Kemp replied, “I think Hamas is now feeling a significant amount of the weight of the IDF on it, and the only reason it's not feeling even more is because the IDF has to be cautious about the hostages. But at the same time, they're making mincemeat of Hamas.”
“Most of Hamas's most senior leadership has been destroyed, huge numbers of their terrorists have been destroyed, a lot of their equipment, so I think they're very much on the back...
