Baltimore, MD – Dec. 26, 2024 - The 5th District team, including Councilman Yitzy Schleifer, visited Citiwatch headquarters to view the 5 new Citiwatch cameras recently installed in the 5th district. These cameras are state of the art with incredible capabilities that will help BPD apprehend suspects and solve crimes. As opposed to having to look back at the recording of an incident, these cameras view incidents in real time They also have the ability to see license plates from blocks away.
Many thanks goes to Councilman Yitzy Schleifer, Mayor Brandon M. Scott, Baltimore Police Department & Baltimore City Office of Information Technology (BCIT) for looking out for the community's public safety.

“You delivered the mighty into the hands of the weak, and the many into the hands of the few.”
Text of Al Hanissim prayer of Chanukah
The “many” who stormed Yerushalayim as part of the Greek/ Seleucid assault were not merely “many”; they were a vast tide of warriors, a staggering force that the ancient world had never encountered. The Seleucid army, an imposing heir to Alexander the Great's military legacy, stood as one of the most powerful and expansive forces of the Hellenistic era. They could marshal tens of thousands of soldiers for battle—sometimes over 70,000 strong, with infantry, cavalry, and even fearsome war elephants, towering and armored, which instilled terror among opposing forces. From every corner of their vast empire, the ...
Baltimore, MD - Dec. 26, 2024 - A major eye drop brand has issued a product recall in Maryland and across the United States for possible fungal contamination, which officials said could cause an eye infection and threaten users' vision.
Alcon Laboratories is voluntarily recalling one lot of their Systane Lubricant Eye Drops Ultra PF, Single Vials On-the-Go, which are in a 25-count package and are used to relieve dry eyes. The Texas-based company got a customer complaint of foreign material inside one of the sealed vials, which was determined "to be fungal in nature," according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
If the contaminated drops are used, the fungus could cause an eye infection that may threaten the users' vision and is potentially life-threatening fo...
The IDF conducted airstrikes on Thursday afternoon against targets in the Houthi-controlled cities of Sanaa and Hudaydah in Yemen.
The strikes were carried out during an address by Houthi leader Abdul Malik al-Houthi. Houthi television channel Al-Masirah reported that three individuals were killed and 16 were wounded in the attacks.
The IDF confirmed the attack stating: "A short while ago, following the approval of operational plans by the Chief of the General Staff, the Minister of Defense, and the Prime Minister, IAF fighter jets conducted intelligence-based strikes on military targets belonging to the Houthi terrorist regime on the western coast and inland Yemen. The Houthi terrorist regime has repeatedly attacked the State of Israel and its citizens, including in UAV and surface-to-s...
After lighting the menorah, we all sing Maoz Tzur. It is unique among other mitzvos that we perform that are not accompanied immediately with song.
At the end of the stanza that begins Yevonim nikbetzu alai we sing how 'the men of insight, eight days, קבעו שיר ורננים — they established for song and jubilation.'
This too is an unusual description for their having instituted a holiday dedicated to הלל והודאה — praise and thanks. The emphasis here seems to be on the song and merriment.
The Satmar Rebbe was reported to have requested to gather groups of children so they may sing together the various piyutim that are sung at the lighting, in fulfillment of this objective of שיר ורננים.
Although on Chanukah there is no obligation to celebr...
