Baltimore, MD - Oct. 1, 2024 - A Federal judge is allowing the group Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) to hold an on campus event at University of Maryland College Park on October 7.
The date marks the one-year anniversary of when 1,200 Israelis were killed and 250 others were taken hostage at the hands of Hamas near Gaza.
University officials initially barred all unsponsored events that day for safety reasons.
Students for Justice in Palestine sued, alleging freedom of speech violations.
They planned to use October 7 as a day of remembrance for 40,000 Palestinians killed in what they consider to be Israeli "genocidal campaign."

Jerusalem, Israel - Oct. 1, 2024 - Four people were killed and at least nine wounded, as well as a dog, in a shooting terror attack in Jaffa, in central Israel, on Tuesday evening, Magen David Adom reported.
At least four people were reported critically wounded. Magen David Adom announced that the incident involved multiple causalities.
The shooting occurred near a light rail station in the central Israeli city. Two terrorists who were observed exiting the train were shot dead by security forces.
Police suspect at least one more terrorist is still present in the area
A short while ago, missiles were launched from Iran towards the State of Israel. 181 ballistic missiles were launched in the attack.

Members of the International Longshormen's Association walked off the job at midnight Tuesday.

The Western Wall Heritage Foundation reported this afternoon (Tuesday) that due to Home Front Command guidelines, it has been decided to cancel tonight's central Selichot event.
The central Selichot event will take place in a limited format in the Western Wall tunnels and in accordance with Home Front Command guidelines. "The Western Wall Heritage Foundation asks the public to act in accordance with the guidelines and invites them to join the live broadcast", it was reported.

Washington, D.C. - Oct. 1, 2024 - Iran is planning to attack Israel “imminently” with ballistic missiles, an anonymous senior White House official tells Israeli and US media.
The official says that “we are actively supporting defensive preparations to defend Israel against this attack. A direct military attack from Iran against Israel will carry severe consequences for Iran.”

Jerusalem, Israel - Oct. 1, 2024 - As the Israel Defense Forces officially launched ground operations in southern Lebanon early this morning, the military is now disclosing that it has already carried out more than 70 small raids with special forces since the beginning of the war, destroying numerous Hezbollah positions, tunnels, and thousands of weapons that would have potentially been used by the terror group to invade Israel.
According to the IDF, troops in the raids over past months silently reached around 1,000 Hezbollah sites in southern Lebanon, some of them several kilometers from the border fence, including tunnels and bunkers where the terror group stored weapons. Every year I struggle to find just the right words to introduce the initiation of Selichos on Motzei Shabbos prior to Rosh Hashana, which hopefully will set the tone for the elevated days ahead through Yom Kippur.
Especially intriguing to me is the opening of the main Selicha we recite responsively, במוצאי מנוחה קדמנוך תחילה — As [the day of] rest departs we precede before you first.
Why the emphasis on it being after the day of rest, and not simply post-Shabbos?
The next phrase seems redundant. קדם — to precede, is synonymous with תחילה — first.
Wouldn't simply stating that on Motzei Shabbos קדמנוך — we have preceded before you, been sufficient?
We mention our coming before G-d, תחילה — 'first'.
