A watchdog group monitoring antisemitism in Germany has reported a significant rise in antisemitic incidents in 2023, documenting a total of 4,782 cases.  This marks an alarming 80% increase compared to the 2,616 incidents recorded in 2022, according to a recent report by the RIAS group (Federal Association of Departments for Research and Information on Antisemitism). The surge in antisemitic activities was notably pronounced following the October 7 attack by Hamas terrorists on Israel, which resulted in the deaths of approximately 1,200 people and the abduction of 251. More than half of the incidents in 2023 occurred after this attack, highlighting a direct correlation between geopolitical events and local antisemitic actions. A group of activists joined Councilmember John Bullock, representing council district 9, in front of Baltimore City Hall before the meeting. Olatunji left the industry because of it. "That's on every voter's mind this season," Olatinju added. "How can we make sure everybody is being able to afford a wage they can live on and sustain their families?" Bullock put forth the bill, which, over the course of a few years, w...
Drivers are being told they can't register their cars because of toll flags. Data from the Maryland Vehicle Administration shows toll flags jumped from around 100 to more than 12,000 in just 4 months. Now, more than 45,000 drivers are unable to register their vehicles without first clearing toll violations, which can sometimes amount to thousands of dollars. “These are some 2021s, 2022s, I know I got 2024s somewhere,” said Tenia Steltz, as she sorted through various packets of toll notices. Despite having an active Hatem Bridge pass, which costs her $20 a year for unlimited trips, Steltz said she’s being billed the video toll rate of $12 per trip whenever she crosses the bridge. And when she doesn't pay by the due date, she gets a civil penalty of $25 per tol...

Earlier this month, the Supreme Court convened, with a panel of nine judges, to discuss petitions demanding the conscription of yeshiva students due to the lack of legislation on the matter, as well as the revocation of budgets from yeshivas that do not enlist their students. The decision follows a statement by Israel's Attorney General, Gali Baharav-Miara, which claimed that the government will not be able to provide support to yeshivas who...

IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevi has said the military is getting close to defeating Hamas’s Rafah Brigade. “We have very significant achievements in the fighting in Rafah,” Halevi said during a visit to the city in the southern Gaza Strip yesterday, in comments released now. “This is reflected in the number of terrorists killed, as well as in the destroyed infrastructure [and] tunnels,” he said. Halevi said the IDF’s control of the so-called Philadelphi Route on the Gaza-Egypt border is “very, very significant.” He said it closes Hamas’s “oxygen pipeline for future smuggling.” “We are clearly approaching the point where we [can] say we dismantled the Rafah Brigade. It is defeated not in the sense that ther...
