Baltimore, MD - Dec. 5, 2024: Dear Friends of TA, Yesterday morning we announced the launch of our campaign for Lamdeinu, TA's center for academic and enrichment resources. This campaign is lovingly dedicated to the cherished memory of our beloved veteran Lamdeinu teacher, Mrs. Miriam (Fink) Mintz, a"h. Her sudden passing this past summer left a profound void in our hearts and in the lives of all who were blessed to know her. Though her loss is still painfully fresh, her enduring legacy continues to inspire us each day. Mrs. Mintz was the embodiment of passion, creativity, and unconditional love. Her heart and soul were devoted to reaching and teaching each of her students, whom she embraced as her own. Her smile, positivity, and belief in every child remain etched in the hearts of...
Senator Tom Cotton (R-AR) introduced legislation on Thursday that would require all official US documents and materials to use the historically accurate term “Judea and Samaria” instead of the “West Bank." According to the Senator, the bill, titled the Retiring the Egregious Confusion Over the Genuine Name of Israel’s Zone of Influence by Necessitating Government-use of Judea and Samaria (RECOGNIZING Judea and Samaria) Act, would require the use of historically accurate terminology and align US policy language with the geographical and cultural significance of the region. The legislation was introduced in the House by Congresswoman Claudia Tenney (R-NY). “The Jewish people’s legal and historic rights to Judea and Samaria go back thousands of years. Th...
Yaakov received the blessings from his father but along with them, the scorn of his brother Esav.  He fled to Charan to seek safety and sanctuary and a wife. “And Jacob left Beer Sheba, and he went to Haran. And he arrived at the place and lodged there because the sun had set, and he took some of the stones of the place and placed [them] at his head, and he lay down in that place. (Genesis 28:10-11).” The Talmud (Chullin 91b) paints a dramatic picture: “And Jacob went out from Beersheba and went toward Haran.” And it is written thereafter: “And he encountered the place, and he slept there, because the sun had set.” When Jacob arrived at Haran, he said: Is it possible that I passed a place where my fathers prayed, and I did not pray there?...
Baltimore, MD - Dec. 5, 2024  - Chanukah is just around the corner, and my preschoolers are eagerly counting down the 20 days until it begins. But we are all counting—counting the days until our hostages and soldiers return home whole, until the war ends, and until we can fully celebrate light over darkness. I admire those who still wear the tape as a visible reminder of those who are still missing. Though I no longer wear it physically, it stays in my mind and heart. Every day, I say my Tehillim for the hostages, a Yehi Ratzon for our soldiers, and reflect when I see the yellow ribbon and “Bring Them Home” tag in my car. Recently, I pulled out a dress for a special Aleph Beis program with my students and noticed the tape still stuck to it. I sighed, remembering how...

As soon as Lavan gets wind of Yaakov's escape, the Torah reports how Lavan 'took את אחיו — his brethren with him to pursue' Yaakov. After Lavan's confrontation with Yaakov they come to terms and make a treaty. Yaakov takes a stone creating a monument to commemorate this covenant with Lavan. He then 'speaks לאחיו — to his brethren, to 'gather stones', fashioning a platform to eat upon. After Yaakov and Lavan both respectively name the monument Galeed/ Yegar-sahadusa, expressing how this landmark will serve as a witness to their commitment to the pact, Yaakov slaughters animals in preparation of a feast and 'summons לאחיו — his brethren, to break bread'.  The evident question is that neither Lavan and Yaa...
