Baltimore, MD - Dec. 5, 2024: Dear Friends of TA, Yesterday morning we announced the launch of our campaign for Lamdeinu, TA's center for academic and enrichment resources. This campaign is lovingly dedicated to the cherished memory of our beloved veteran Lamdeinu teacher, Mrs. Miriam (Fink) Mintz, a"h. Her sudden passing this past summer left a profound void in our hearts and in the lives of all who were blessed to know her. Though her loss is still painfully fresh, her enduring legacy continues to inspire us each day. Mrs. Mintz was the embodiment of passion, creativity, and unconditional love. Her heart and soul were devoted to reaching and teaching each of her students, whom she embraced as her own. Her smile, positivity, and belief in every child remain etched in the hearts of...

As soon as Lavan gets wind of Yaakov's escape, the Torah reports how Lavan 'took את אחיו — his brethren with him to pursue' Yaakov. After Lavan's confrontation with Yaakov they come to terms and make a treaty. Yaakov takes a stone creating a monument to commemorate this covenant with Lavan. He then 'speaks לאחיו — to his brethren, to 'gather stones', fashioning a platform to eat upon. After Yaakov and Lavan both respectively name the monument Galeed/ Yegar-sahadusa, expressing how this landmark will serve as a witness to their commitment to the pact, Yaakov slaughters animals in preparation of a feast and 'summons לאחיו — his brethren, to break bread'.  The evident question is that neither Lavan and Yaa...

A surprise attack was planned on Israel's northern border in the days following the October 7 Hamas attacks, a senior military official involved in commanding the IDF's operations in southern Lebanon revealed in a Wednesday Maariv interview.  The official emphasized that a repeat or imitation of the October 7 attack is unlikely to occur along Israel's northern border at this stage of the war. He attributed this to the IDF's efforts in neutralizing terror tunnels, clearing dense brushlands, and dismantling nature reserves that had been converted into terror strongholds. Before the IDF's efforts in combatting Hezbollah and dismantling its infrastructure and weaponry, the senior official revealed that early in the operation, some 3,000 ...

Sometimes we get so absorbed by the story line being communicated in particular psukim, that we can miss out on some profound lessons the Torah may be teaching us.  One example of this in the story of the Dudaim.  We all know that Rochel desired to have the Dudaim so she asked Leah if she could have some (Vayetzei 30:14).  To this request Leah expresses genuine hurt to her sister and says “Wasn't it enough that you stole my husband, now you want to take my sons flowers” (30:15).  Truly an incredulous accusation considering Yaakov had agreed to work seven years to marry Rochel and it was the trickery of  Lavan where Leah was switched to marry Yaakov instead.  Moreover the switch was only made possible because Rochel willingly gave Leah the Sima...
