After an enormously difficult year, Rosh Hashana is upon us. We turn the page to a new year and new possibilities, keenly aware that on this day Hashem determines both our fate and our mission for the future. We end the year encouraged by His almost-visible hand bringing success to the heroic efforts of our beloved chayalei Tzahal protecting our people and destroying those who seek to destroy us.   We approach Rosh Hashana with hope. For the past seven weeks, beginning with Shabbos Nachamu, we have read the comforting words of Yeshayahu. As discouraging as our world appears, we believe with a complete belief that God has not given up on it and that it will be healed and filled with peace, goodness, and knowledge of Hashem. The promise of a better future is what grants us the optimism ...

The Lufthansa Group has announced an extension of flight cancellations to Israel, suspending operations until November 1st.  This decision affects several airlines within the group, including Lufthansa, Swiss, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, and Eurowings.  Initially set to resume flights by October 14, the group has now extended the suspension due to ongoing security concerns. Passengers impacted by these cancellations are offered the option to cancel their tickets free of charge or to rebook. "Air France" and "Transavia" announced last night that they would also halt flights to Tel Aviv and Beirut until October 8, citing the security situation as the reason. In response to the growing number of cancellations from foreign airlines, El Al has committed to adding mo...
A senior Israeli security official has urged Israel to take decisive action against Iran’s leadership, including Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, following the latest missile attack on Israel. "We should expect to strike government centers and possibly eliminate figures like Khamenei," the official told The Jerusalem Post on Tuesday, calling for a targeted response that includes Iran’s military infrastructure and aircraft. The call for direct action comes in the wake of a massive aerial assault on Tuesday night, when Iran launched 180 ballistic missiles toward Israel, prompting rocket sirens across the country and sending residents scrambling for shelter. While Israeli air defenses intercepted dozens of rockets, significant damage occurred, including a direct hit on a buildin...
Jaffa, Israel - Oct. 1, 2024  -Seven people were killed and at least eight others wounded in a shooting and stabbing terror attack in Jaffa on Tuesday evening, according to Israel Police, in one of the deadliest terror attacks in recent years. Two terrorists, one of whom was armed with a rifle and the other with a knife, attacked civilians on the Tel Aviv light rail before getting off and continuing on foot and shooting and stabbing people on Jerusalem Street in the city. The two terrorists were identified as Mehmed Khalaf Saher Rajab and Hassan Mohammed Hassan Tamimi, both Palestinian residents of Hebron in the West Bank. Casualties were evacuated to Wolfson Medic...
The US warned Tuesday that there would be “severe consequences” for Iran after its missile attack against Israel, pledging to work with Jerusalem to extract a price from Tehran. Washington offered similar support for Israel after helping it thwart Iran’s previous attack in April, but then it quickly turned to caution Israel against responding too broadly, fearing an escalation into a regional war. On Tuesday, though, Biden officials weren’t just stressing Israel’s right to respond but indicating that the US would be assisting Israel in launching that response. “There will be severe consequences for this attack and we will work with Israel to make that the case,” Sullivan said during a press briefing at the White House hours after Iran launched so...

Jerusalem, Israel - Oct. 1, 2024  - In Yerushalayim tonight, at around 7:30 PM, we were alerted to go down to our building’s miklat (shelter). Unlike previous missile attacks, where we could leave after 10-15 minutes, this time we were told to stay until further notice. We were alerted by a warning on our cell phones from the Home Front Command. The sirens went off a few minutes later, and the miklat began to fill with our neighbors. Young people helped older shechenim (neighbors), and mothers brought their children and babies to safety. Some husbands were out, either davening or shopping, and found shelter elsewhere. One man managed to send a message to his wife via a neighbor that he and their son had found protection in a nearby shelter. Baruch HaShem, we had water in the shel...
Baltimore, MD - Oct. 1, 2024  - A Federal judge is allowing the group Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) to hold an on campus event at University of Maryland College Park on October 7. The date marks the one-year anniversary of when 1,200 Israelis were killed and 250 others were taken hostage at the hands of Hamas near Gaza. University officials initially barred all unsponsored events that day for safety reasons. Students for Justice in Palestine sued, alleging freedom of speech violations. They planned to use October 7 as a day of remembrance for 40,000 Palestinians killed in what they consider to be Israeli "genocidal campaign." While District Court Judge Peter J. Messitte said the university's concerns were reasonable, he ultimately sided with the student group, gran...
