Description

“Justice, justice, shall you pursue.” –Deuteronomy 16:20 Dr. Martin Luther King embodied this biblical phrase, invoking its message as he implored people of all faiths to build a worldwide fellowship for justice. As the Jewish community grows more racially and ethnically diverse, how can Jewish texts and traditions shape our commitment to racial justice? How is the Jewish community pursuing racial justice and inclusivity, honoring both our Jewish tradition and Dr. King’s mandate? Yavilah McCoy, an African American Orthodox Jewish diversity educator and advocate for Jews of Color, will explore these complex issues at Beth Tfiloh’s Stanley Z. Penn Memorial Lecture. THIS EVENT IS FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. For more information, contact 410-413-2321 or mercaz@btfiloh.org.
