Public works gives update on when plows may hit local streets in Baltimore County, where snow is causing closures, cancelations.
TOWSON, MD – With parts of Baltimore County getting more than 30 inches of snow, cleanup continues on county roads.
Baltimore County government officials say that plows will hit all roads by Monday afternoon and ask for patience due to the sheer amount of snow.
Here’s how much snow Baltimore County got, according to preliminary National Weather Service reports:
Recycling is canceled for the week in Baltimore County.
Trash collection will occur when possible, and trash will not be collected in alleys; residents must move trash to the curbs.
State Highways Director Gregory C. Johnson said he expects crews to have interstates and other main highways cleared of snow by Monday morning. Secondary and local roads may still be covered by snow.
Many offices and schools are closed on Monday to allow for cleanup to continue without extra vehicles on the road.
“[Monday] morning conditions will be icy and dangerous,” Gov. Larry Hogan said Sunday. He urged citizens to stay off the roads, and to that end, closed state government offices. “By closing state offices tomorrow, crews can carry on with their work to clear state roads.”
Hogan said the state will seek federal disaster relief to help recoup the recovery costs of Maryland’s biggest ever snowfall.
