Baltimore County Executive Kevin Kamenetz says county crews are trying to keep up with the snow fall by clearing roads.

At mid-afternoon, Kamenetz said plows had only passed through 40-percent of the county roads, leaving 60-percent untreated, because of the heavy intense snow.

Kamenetz said that he expects crews to get a better handle on clearing snow through the evening, as the storm winds down.

He says after midnight, crews will be out in full force clearing roads, as the snow is expected to stop.

"By tomorrow afternoon, people will be able to see some progress," Kamenetz told WBAL NewsRadio 1090.

He says the county has 8,800 lane miles of roads.

He says main roads will be cleared first, and then side streets.

Kamenetz expects Baltimore County Schools to make a decision Sunday about whether to open on Monday.

He says that will depend on the conditions of side streets and sidewalks.

In Owings Mills this afternoon crews on Franklin Boulevard were working to free an ambulance that became stuck in the snow.

In Towson, firefighters were on the scene of  the collapse of a structure covering the indoor soccer fields and basketball courts at the Concordia Prep School.
