Sen. John Fetterman Says Israel Should Kill Iran's New Supreme Leader

Washngton, D.C. - Mar. 12, 2026 - Pennsylvania Democratic Sen. John Fetterman said that Israel should kill Iran’s new supreme leader, Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei.

“Well, they should kill him, too - hopefully he is significantly wounded,” Fetterman said Wednesday.

“And if he does recover, you know, I do absolutely support having Israel to just eliminate him, you know, along with any other parts of the leadership.”

Last month, Israel and the U.S. conducted a joint strike on Iran due to concerns about the Middle Eastern country having missiles.

As a result of the strikes, Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed and his son, Mojtaba Khamenei replaced him

Fetterman also said the leaders of Hezbollah and Hamas need to be killed too.

“I mean, I’m always going to support that,” he said, according to The Hill newspaper.

“I think it’s a good thing to continue to eliminate leaders of Hezbollah, Hamas and the Iranian, too.”

He did say that his red line for this war was boots on the ground. He also wanted to know why his Democratic colleagues weren’t as supportive of U.S. action in Iran.

“I would just like to remind everybody watching that every single Democratic presidential candidate always identified that Iran is a top, top security issue,” Fetterman said.

“And every single Democrat in the Senate and in the House, you know, says we can never allow Iran to acquire a nuclear bomb. And Kamala Harris, when she was running just back in ’24, she identified Iran as her top, top international concern.”
