Jerusalem, Israel - Mar. 2, 2026 - On the third day of the Iran conflict, Israel continues battling Iran as missiles keep flying and residents across the country are frequently being sent to bomb shelters. Daily life remains disrupted, and travel in and out of Israel continues to be extremely limited.
Here are the latest updates from Chaim V’Chessed:
Evacuation Flights – Inbound Only
Israel Airport Authority has announced that beginning tonight, Monday, March 2, ‘controlled’ evacuation flights will begin operating to Israel. It must be emphasized that these flights are extremely limited and, more importantly, will be inbound only. Their purpose is to return Israelis who are currently stranded abroad.
Airport officials have notified Chaim V’Chessed that at this point, no outbound flights will be permitted whatsoever. Authorities are reluctant to allow departures due to the need for large numbers of passengers to congregate at the airport prior to flights.
Travel via Egypt
As a result, the only likely viable option for leaving Israel at this time remains travel through Egypt. Traffic through this route has increased significantly over the past few days.
As reported yesterday, Emes Travel – a reputable travel agency well known in the Anglo community – is offering a package that includes transportation from Jerusalem to the Egyptian border, onward travel to Sharm el-Sheikh, and a flight ticket to a European destination. At this time, very limited seats remain available for departures this week. The agency’s package can be viewed at https://bit.ly/emestravel.
Travel agents are already reporting to Chaim V’Chessed that if the situation continues beyond Purim, there is expected to be a tremendous surge in demand to leave Israel. Prices for departures from any location are likely to become astronomical after Purim if conditions do not improve or change.
U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem Closure
Chaim V’Chesed remains in close contact with U.S. Embassy officials in Jerusalem. The embassy has informed Chaim V’Chesed that it will remain fully closed on Monday and Tuesday and will reassess operations for Wednesday. When the embassy reopens, they plan to implement various leniencies to facilitate travel for American citizens seeking passports or other urgent services.
