Baltimore, MD - Feb. 3, 2026 - The Baltimore Police Department launched a Citywide Traffic Team to reduce traffic-related fatalities, serious injuries, and dangerous driving behaviors across the city.
The traffic team will focus on behaviors linked to serious or fatal crashes, like speeding, impaired driving, distracted driving, and reckless or aggressive driving.
The team will assist in enforcing traffic laws regarding the improper use of Virginia license plates by Maryland residents.
Operations will be guided by crash data and incorporate community feedback to ensure resources are allocated where they are needed most.
Since the traffic team's launch, officials said officers have initiated more than 400 traffic stops and issued nearly 370 moving violations.
Additionally, as of January 27, officers had issued 72 Repair Orders, 334 Warnings, 10 Parking citations, one DUI arrest, and towed 15 vehicles, officials announced.
The traffic team collaborates with city agencies, transportation planners, public health partners, and community organizations to promote education, outreach, and long-term traffic safety solutions.
Residents are encouraged to share tips about aggressive driving locations with the traffic team by emailing CTT@baltimorepolice.org.
