Baltimore, MD - Jan. 27, 2026 - On Sunday, January 11, the JES Educator Expo 2026 brought together educators, families, and community partners for an afternoon that was warm, joyful, and deeply affirming. Close to 35 educators and vendors shared their work with approximately 75 attendees, creating a space that felt less like a conference and more like a celebration of teaching, creativity, and connection.
From the moment presenters arrived, there was a palpable sense of excitement. Tables filled quickly with materials, tools, and ideas that had been living—often quietly—inside classrooms across our community. Educators were eager to share approaches that had been successful with their own students and just as eager to learn from others who share a passion for excellent teaching. As one participant reflected, “This was my first time going and I will go again. Seeing what other educators do helps me grow my own skillset for teaching using tried and true techniques.”
Connections sparked easily throughout the room. Teachers and service organizations that had never worked together before leaned in, asked questions, and imagined new possibilities. The cross-pollination was exhilarating to watch as educators from day and religious schools across the spectrum of Baltimore’s Jewish community were exchanging ideas, reflecting together, and inspiring one another around shared goals of student growth and success in Jewish classrooms. One booth sparked conversations that went well beyond materials, helping educators think more deeply about what may lie beneath the surface for students who are struggling. Several teachers followed up to continue learning, and one even practiced new strategies on the spot to bring back to her classroom the very next day.
Teacher appreciation was woven into every part of the day. The Magic Mayhem Circus transformed the Expo into a truly family-friendly experience, as educators piled their children into the show where wholesome tricks, laughter, and delight filled the room. While the kids were happily entertained, parents were free to browse the Expo, engage with vendors, and connect with colleagues. It was a thoughtful and rare gift of time that honored educators as professionals and as parents.
Creativity and fun added to the energy of the afternoon. Giveaways sparked smiles, teacher-created resources were generously shared, and Cricut® machines customized clipboards and pencil cups on the spot, turning everyday classroom tools into personalized keepsakes. Several presenters shared how meaningful it felt to be seen and valued, with one saying it made her feel “like a million dollars” to be part of such a thoughtfully planned event.
As the Expo came to a close, there was a strong sense of gratitude and momentum. Educators left inspired by what they had learned, affirmed in the work they are doing, and excited to bring new ideas back to their classrooms. At its core, the Educator Expo reflected what Jewish Educational Services is all about. We’re here for YOU!
