Baltimore, MD - Dec. 24, 2025 - Laniado Hospital recently concluded a powerful three-event visit to the Baltimore–Washington area with renowned Israeli speaker and global Israel advocate Hillel Fuld, delivering a message that was both inspiring and urgent: even in times of war, protecting human life must remain paramount.
The visit began Sunday evening, December 7, with a major community gathering at Beth Tfiloh Congregation in Baltimore, drawing approximately 500 attendees. The evening was emceed by New York–based businessman and musical artist Shalom Jacobs, who infused the program with warmth and soul. Jacobs performed his iconic Mi Shebeirach, and for the emotional finale was joined by Beth Tfiloh’s Cantor Yoni Rose, accompanied by Yehuda Mond on keyboard and Yitzy Kaplowitz on guitar.
Rabbi Chanan Daniel Skurnik, Mid-Atlantic Executive Director of Laniado Hospital, addressed the sobering reality facing the hospital during wartime. When missile sirens sound in Netanya, Laniado is forced to evacuate its Emergency Room. While staff work heroically to move patients into protected areas, not every patient can be evacuated. The critically ill are sometimes left exposed—an ongoing and unacceptable safety risk. Proceeds from the Baltimore event are supporting the construction of Laniado’s new bomb-proof Emergency Hospital, a lifesaving project that broke ground this past October and will ensure no patient is left unprotected.
Local rabbinic leadership added spiritual depth to the evening. Rabbi Daniel Rose of B’nai Jacob Shaarei Zion shared words of inspiration, while Rabbi Yisrael Motzen of Ner Tamid Congregation led the community in Tehillim, both invoking the legacy of their late teacher and mentor, Rabbi Moshe Hauer, זצ״ל, who loved Laniado and admired its founder the Klausenberger Rebbe.
Following his address, Hillel Fuld sat down with Beth Tfiloh’s Rabbi Chai Posner for an intimate interview-style conversation. Fuld urged the audience to recognize the miracles unfolding in Israel, even amid immense pain and loss. He repeatedly emphasized that we are living in “biblical times,” witnessing the flourishing of Am Yisrael and the State of Israel despite war and rising global antisemitism. He highlighted Israel’s continued leadership in technology, medical innovation, defense systems, and startups.
Fuld also offered a powerful historical perspective, opining that just as with Purim and Chanukah, the Jewish people will one day look back on October 7—and other dark days in recent history—not only with grief, but with celebration of our ultimate victory over those who sought our destruction.
The following morning, December 8, the visit continued with a private event hosted by Kesher Technology Fund and its Managing Partner, Marty Taylor, in partnership with Laniado Hospital. The discussion focused on Israel’s startup ecosystem and broader economy, exploring how innovation and entrepreneurship continue to drive Israel forward even during times of conflict.
The visit concluded that evening at Chabad of Silver Spring, where Hillel Fuld, following his remarks, sat down with Rabbi Berel Wolvovsky for a thoughtful interview-style conversation reflecting on faith, resilience, and the historic moment facing the Jewish people.
Together, the three events delivered a unified call to action: while Israel continues to innovate and endure, safeguarding human life—especially in moments of danger—must remain a top priority.
