Baltimore, MD – Sept. 13, 2025 – (WMAR2News) Demolition work is underway on three vacant buildings along North Howard Street in downtown Baltimore after they were heavily damaged in last week’s fire.

The project has forced the closure of a section of North Howard Street and suspended Maryland Transit Administration light rail service through the downtown corridor. Shuttle buses are replacing trains between Glen Burnie/Cromwell and Timonium Fairgrounds, running directly to the Convention Center stop.

City officials warn that the closures are expected to last up to nine days, with delays anticipated for both drivers and transit riders. The impact is expected to be especially heavy during Sunday’s Ravens game, when traffic near Light Street and Howard Street is projected to be severe.

Residents are urged to plan ahead and explore alternative routes and transit options during the demolition period. Head here for alternative transit options during the closure.
