Washington, D.C. - July 8, 2025  - At least one United States airline will begin flights into Israel later this month.

United Airlines said on Tuesday that it would resume its route from New Jersey’s Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) to Tel Aviv’s Ben Gurion Airport (TLV) on July 21. A second flight will restart on July 22 as well.

United says that its decision to resume the route comes after “a detailed assessment of operational considerations in the region and close consultation with the unions representing our flight attendants and pilots.”

The airline will use its Boeing 787-10 Dreamliners to serve the route. United’s partner airline, Lufthansa, is also planning to start operating flights into Israel again on August 1. Fellow European carrier Air France resumed its flights from Paris to Tel Aviv on July 7.

With the route’s restart, United will be the only U.S. airline to fly to Israel in July. Delta Air Lines was operating flights to Tel Aviv from New York JFK earlier this summer, but suspended that route in mid-June. Delta’s operations aren’t scheduled to start again until at least August 31. American Airlines paused its Israel-bound flights in late 2024 through at least September 2025.

The situation in the region has been rapidly shifting amid the ongoing conflict, with airlines constantly making risk assessments. Airline operations in the Middle East became even more complicated in late June, as the U.S. and Iran traded airstrikes on military sites in Tehran and Doha, Qatar. That situation caused many airlines to temporarily suspend flights to major hubs in the region, such as Dubai and Doha.

Tickets for United’s Tel Aviv flights went on sale on July 8.
